We are going to learn a lot about WSU's roster over the next 60 days. I won't clog the thread with my baseless speculation but I will just say that I hope we don't lose anyone but I am afraid we are going to lose a lot.
I also hope Nagy really embraces the portal and can land impactful players who can lead WSU back to the Big Dance in 2024.

This might not mean anything, but I just checked over the current roster page and Alex Garcia is not listed on the 22-23 roster anymore and the address for what would have been his bio page, loads a "Page Not Found (404)" message.
One of the concerns I have for next year is the lack of depth in the frontcourt with just 3 players (Braun, Noel, Sisley). Drey Carter is 6'8", but is listed as a guard. Wilbourn and Neff at least provided depth if there were injuries or foul trouble. A lot of us like to have 2 bigs on the floor at the same time, but with the lack of depth that doesn't seem likely to happen much.

We played 2 bigs together : Lou and Grant and we did not really have any backups.

Not the OP, but I'm worried every offseason when we have talented players who have enough chops on the court to get looks by other programs. I'm not going to call anyone out because I don't know any of our players or their family's personally, but it wouldn't surprise me if a few players think they can "do better" than they're doing right now. Anytime you fear that mentality exists in the age of relatively free movement of players is enough to cause me concern as a fan. Our opinion of their ability to perform elsewhere doesn't matter. They're going to do what is best for them a human, a student, an athlete, a son, brother, uncle, etc. I don't necessarily think anyone on this team is ready to step into major minutes at a power 5 program, but if you look around college basketball and the some 19 players that have hit the portal in 24 hours, it tells you that anyone can leave at any given time regardless of their talent, experience, or opportunity. Sometimes people just want a fresh start. The NCAA has made that readily available to them, and it is hugely disadvantageous to smaller programs and even more so when you've got a coach who has yet to use the portal to make any kind of serious splash the last few years. |

Agreed on all points. I am genuinely curious how Nagy will approach the portal this year. Will he have more success than in recent years or will it be more of the same? The portal seems to go against his coaching and recruiting philosophy so I really want to see what he does after his worst record in a long time.

Concur with all, though I would still redshirt if the kid is never going to see the floor. Was encouraged to see more use of the bench this year than the past several, but every time that was embraced for a game or two, it would revert back. Could not believe Welage was not consistently getting 20+ minutes. Don't expect we will get much from the portal this year unless we also lose some, because we have no scholarships to give.
