Wright State still struggles in the department of recruiting Ohio kids, especially local ones. Troy Tabler is the exception to the rule. I love getting kids like that. Ohio is a hotbed for high school talent and WSU has not done a good enough job keeping kids at home. 1/3 of our roster is from Ohio. Troy Tabler - Cincinnati, OH N'Gai Evans - Canton, OH Todd Brown - Canton, OH Scott Grote - Centerville, OH

I don't really care where our recruits come from as long as they can play. I will be saddened if we don't sign Bill Jr. I loved watching his father play for us and it will be hard to see his son in another team's uniform, especially someone we play like Miami.

We need another legit post player. Detroit has been stockpiling post players since they hired their new coach and Butler just added another 6-9 commitment for the class of 2009. They won't be the small Butler teams of old.
Avery Jukes (F, 6-8, 215) Matt Howard (F, 6-8, 225) Garrett Butcher (F, 6-7, 205) Gordon Hayward (F, 6-8, 180) Emerson Kampen (F, 6-10, 215) Andrew Smith (C, 6-9, 220)

Ohio is a hotbed for high school talent and WSU has not done a good enough job keeping kids at home. It's not from lack of effort. Look at our recruiting board. There are forty 2009 WSU recruits. Twelve are from Ohio. The next closest states are Indiana and Illinois at 5 apiece.

Ohio is a tough place to recruit. We have UC, X, Miami,OU, OSU, UD, Ut, BG, CSU, UA, KSU, and YSU in addition to WSU. These are all very good, or at least decent, programs year after year. Then after them you have schools like Wittenburg, Central State, and Findlay to name a few more who are strong in their respective divisions. So any time we go to recruit a D-1 type player, there is at least one solid D-1 school in the young man's back yard. Just look at the 5 schools in southwestern Ohio, all within 60 miles. I don't criticize any coach who looks to Europe, or any other continent, for talent.
Go Raiders!

I like what I read about Javier Carter on the recruiting board. We could really use a top of the notch athlete in the post. I'd be more than happy to sign either Jonathan Smith or Javier Carter.

Like I said a few posts back, we need another legit post player. Many other teams in the HL are starting to go with more size. We need to match up well in the conference. I think Jonathan Smith or Javier Carter would be a great high school option for the post. I would also take Mark Anderson if our coaches want to go the JUCO route. It would be nice to finalize 2009 recruiting in the early signing period so our coaches can start to focus on 2010. 2009 recruiting is important, but 2010 is even more so. We lose Duggins, Brown, Gardner, Cooperwood, and Thomas in 2010, so we need to bring in a killer class to replace all of that talent.

I would wager that point guard is our coaching staff's top priority considering we have offered 6 point guards, compared to 2 post players.
