I'll second that. Welcome to Raider Nation.

First off, welcome aboard Darion! I look forward to watching you play the next 5 years. (I love when we sign kids in the early period. I get to follow their senior year of high school)
Second, D.J. Cunningham is reportedly visiting today through Monday. Do you think we close out the class of 2009 with his commitment?

I saw Darian Cartharn play last year at the Nutter Center. I think he will end up being a good pick up for the Raiders. He has a nice shot from out deep and he is a top flight defender. Those are 2 qualities that will always earn you playing time here at WSU.
I wouldn't be surprised to see us land DJ Cunningham as well. He is a taller, more athletic version of Jordan Pleiman. He would round out our 2009 class well.

Big D already posted these videos on the recruiting page, but they are worth posting over here too.
Canal Winchester vs Withrow (Cartharn is #31 in white)
Canal Winchester vs Buckeye Valley

I don't see McCollister ending up at WSU.

I don't know anything about Cartharn, but if our coaches like him that's good enough for me. The same holds true for Cunningham if he end up picking the Raiders. Brownell doesn't have a career 127-60 record for nothing. He knows how to recruit and he knows how to coach.

Last year he wasnt even the starting point guard, a kid named Nelson played the point. I believe he played shooting guard for the most part. He has a nice body for a pg and I look forward to seeing him play in person sometime this year.

Tonights loss just points out our recruiting needs even more. This team really lacks an athletic point guard that is a leader. Neither Evans or Graham are playing well. Cartharn may be raw, but he should provide a spark next year at point guard. This team looks horrible from long range. Tyler Koch should help from day one. Our other weakness is poor post play. We still need to address this in the late signing period. My biggest fear is that one post player might not be enough.

I have been happy with what Kyle has provided off of the bench so far. I know that he is raw offensively, and may not carry enough bulk yet, but he plays hard. With some more confidence, I think that he will contribute some valuable minutes by the January conference games, and hopefully sooner than that.

I saw on the recruiting board that our coaches have offered a scholarship to point guard Marcus Williams. This doesn't make any sense to me. Besides Williams, we have scholarship offers out to point guards Marcus Jordan and Justin Jordan. With the play of our team so far, you have to think that bringing in a good post player has to be our priority. This doesn't make sense to me. wrightstate.proboards1.com/index.cgi?board=recruiting&action=display&thread=1681

We do only have one scholarship left for next year, right?

Marcus Jordan and Justin Jordan received their offers during the summer before we signed Cartharn. I'd bet we offered Marcus Williams then too. Most offers to players are first come/first serve, so they may no longer be valid. Marcus Williams is supposed to be a pretty good DB and will probably end up playing football in college anyways.
