It does look like we are going after another guard. It makes you wonder. If we are going after a guard, our coaches must believe that Darkwa is the answer in the post and/or they are worried about JD's health for next season.

Don't get too excited; It was only a courtesy call.

Don't get too excited; It was only a courtesy call. 2 things: 1. Vernard Hollins is a troll on this board. If you look at his posts he is constantly taking little shots at WSU. In his last post he called Tyler Koch injury prone. His last post before that, he said Brownell turned down the post season tournaments so he could job hunt. He's nothing but a troll trying to pass as a Raider fan. 2. Bill Edwards is definitely interested in WSU. He has already been on campus several dozen times over the years. He didn't just take an official visit to WSU as a courtesy call. I think he is starting to realize that the BIG offers he has been holding out for aren't going to materialize. He has one BCS offer from Penn State. Otherwise he has several mid-major offers. WSU has a good shot at him. He has a chance to play close to home and start as a true freshman on an NCAA tournament caliber team here.

This would be a huge recruiting coupe for coach Brownell. Landing Bill Edwards Jr and Tyler Koch in the same class would have to rank this recruiting class as one of the best in WSU history.
Having a 6-7 230 lb forward who can handle the rock like a guard would be a handful for all the Horizon League teams.
I agree Irish that he would have a chance to start at forward opposite of Cory Cooperwood.
Funny comment on "Vernard Hollins" because whenever I see that he posted something I assume he has a dig about Wright State.

You kind of downplay the Penn State offer, but that's a pretty damn good offer. They are going to be contenders in the Big Ten for the next couple years at least with Talor Battle there and they're a program on the rise. Good arena, play in the Big Ten not too far away from home, chance to go to the Big Dance or NIT every year, play a bunch of games on national TV and Big Ten Network, etc. Penn State is 7 1/2 hours from Middletown. WSU is 45 minutes away for his parents. Penn State had their first winning season this year in the last 4 years. WSU is coming off it's third consecutive 20 win season. Penn State plays in the 15,000 seat Bryce Jordan Center. They only averaged 8000 fans a game last year. WSU plays in the 10,000 Nutter center and averages 5,500 fans. I have a pretty good feeling that could go up to 7,000 next year (with the team we have returning and commitments from Tyler Koch and Bill Jr). Penn State is and always will be a football school. Basketball is an afterthought there. At WSU, basketball is king and Bill Jr will be treated like the second coming of Jesus Christ. He will be able to start from day 1 here on an NCAA caliber team.

April 19, 2009 COLLEGE SIGNINGS: The regular signing period for basketball began April 15 and continues until May 20. There were still several uncommitted boys' basketball players as of this weekend. Among them was Middletown senior Bill Edwards, who was a Division I first-team all-state selection. Several schools remain interested in Edwards, including Oklahoma State, Penn State, Central Florida and Wright State. news.cincinnati.com/article/20090419/SPT0301/904190356

I will be surprised if Coach Brownell brings a PG into this recruiting class, especially since he signed Cartharn (a combo), has Evans back, and hopefully a healthy JDG. Besides that, he is looking at several PG's from the 2010 class. I also know that he is spending alot of time on the road making contact with the 2010 recruiting class because of the 4 scholarships that will be leaving after the 2009-10 season. I may be wrong about the PG spot, but I just don't see that being the position that gets filled with that last 09 scholarship.

It was brought up that Oklahoma St. was showing interest in Edwards, but I'm not sure that they have scholarships left. They have already signed 7 recruits from the 2009 class and I believe that they are losing only 3 scholarships from last years Sr. class (excluding walk-ons). I would not be surprised if some of the new signees will be redshirted, but still, 7 in a recruiting class is a bunch.
