Tuesday, December 30, 2008 DJ Cunningham off the board After having a conversation with Wright State associate head coach Billy Donlon yesterday he informed us that 6-foot-9, 245 pound, Waterford Center DJ Cunningham is off the board. "He signed the papers and it's a done deal." reported Donlon. This obviously went down a 2 weeks ago, but is good news for Raider Nation considering Cunningham is dominating in the post and even notched a triple-double with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots on December 20th. Just the week before Cunningham had 26 points and 14 rebounds against Eastern. Cunningham is obviously putting up monster numbers and should be a force to deal with come post season. insideprepsport.blogspot.com/

DJ Cunningham is a bit raw, but he has all of the tools to be a solid post in the HL with some coaching.

I really like this recruiting class a lot.
All three already have the body to play division 1 basketball.
What a relief to find out we landed our big man!!

No I think there is still a very good chance he ends up becoming a Raider.

DJ is not committed to Wright State. Insideprepsports jumped the gun with the above post. It has since been removed from their site. How in the hell could a reporter get something like that wrong? Either Donlon told him that or he didn't. This guy should get fired if he made up a quote. =>Given that it is his blog, I doubt he will fire himself.

Last night's loss really showed our biggest weaknesses as a team. After you take out JDG, we have no PG. I think our team improves next year with the graduation of Will Graham. I don't know how quickly Cartharn will pick up our system next year, but honestly, I think anything will be an improvement next year. Koch adds another much needed shooter. At the end of the game everyone knew we wanted to get the ball to Todd or Troy because they were our only legit threats. Adding JDG, Vaughn and Koch to the mix will give us multiple legit outside shooters.
By far our biggest need is a big and a big that can step in and play next year. Our fans really focus on the loss of Vaughn and JD's injury as turning points for our season. I think it started way before that when Jeron Lewis failed to qualify. We would have a completely different team if we had a 6-8, 280 lb monster controlling the paint for us. It would free up Cory from the constant double teaming and make him so much more effective. I really hope we go the JUCO route and bring in a legit post player next year that can contribute. This team can be really special next year if we add a big and can keep everyone healthy.

I hear there are about a dozen recruits headed to the Nutt House tomorrow for the game. I hope we have a packed house and make a big impression on them.

What are we doing with our last scholarship? Most of the new names on the recruiting board are guards. Are we not going after a post player since we landed Darkwa?
