I started the "last scholarship for 2009" thread that lasted all of last season, so I thought it would be fitting that I start another one for 2010. We either have 4 or 5 scholarships for the 2010 class depending on if we sign a late 2009 recruit or not. Who do you think we will target and who do you think will be the first to commit?

Off of the offered list, I think that Coach will be working hard to get Quinten Rollins and Greg Gainey, 2 local kids who are exceptional athletes. I don't think we land Geron Johnson and I am afraid that McKenzie may want to go a BCS school, but I still like it that they have been offered.

GO RAIDERS!!!!!1 He's not listed in ESPN, Rivals, or Scout's databases. Yet. He will be on all 3 databases before the summer is over. This is his first year of AAU basketball so he is still somewhat of an unknown by the scouting services. He isn't an unknown in Indiana. He was named a member of Indiana's Junior All-Star team and played very well in the junior vs senior All-star game. He was recruited to WSU to play either the 2 or 3 position for us. I think he will be best suited to play the 3. His game is very similar to that of Todd Brown. I think this was a good pick up for WSU. He was also being recruited by Miami (OH), Southern Illinois, and Western Kentucky. He had an official visit to Southern Illinois in June and was scheduled to visit Western Kentucky later this summer.

Josh Sewell committing to Miami is not that big of a surprise. We weren't really recruiting him very hard for the last month or so when he stopped showing as much interest in us. We were recruiting him to play small forward and we already landed Kegan Clark earlier this week to play the same position.
Quinten Rollins going to Miami is another story. I really liked the kid and thought he would have been a great point guard for us. We don't have a chance with Cory Joseph or Mike McCall. They will both end up at BCS programs. That leaves 3 guys that we have offered for point guard: Ryan Bass, Thomas Jackson, and Jack Isenbarger. I really hope we go full steam after Ryan Bass. He is a DaShaun Wood type point guard. I don't know that much about Thomas Jackson. Jack Isenbarger is a big JD Gardner type point guard. He would also be a nice addition to the green and gold, but I hope we go after Bass first. He is a big name local recruit that we have been trying to sign recently.

I agree with Irish Raider, we need to go hard after Bass. If he doesn't commit before the season starts, he will be seen alot by those recruiting Johnson, which may open Bass up to a larger range of schools. I really wanted Quinten at WSU. His athleticism would have been quite a factor in the Horizon League.

I'd be happy with any of the pgs we have offered. Bass is going to be a popular pick because he is local, but the other guys are also talented players.

His athleticism would have been quite a factor in the Horizon League. It would be amazing if we could get Ryan Bass AND Geron Johnson. A lot of schools are going to pass on Johnson or at least take a wait and see approach with him because of concerns with his academic situation. I really hope we go full steam ahead with both of these kids. They are both amazing athletes that could really take WSU to that next level. Johnson is a risk with his grades, but it sounds like he has been putting in the work this summer retaking classes. It may come down to the wire, but I think he will be eligible. Brownell and co have also been recruiting Greg Gainey pretty aggressively. He is a stud. He is a J'Nathan Bullock type player who could step in and play power forward for us initially. If he continues to develop his outside shot he could be an even better small forward. He is a really gifted athlete. FYI, Bass, Johnson and Gainey all play on the same AAU team.

losing rollins is a real disappointment. we just seem to struggle attracting good locals away from the other local teams. GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!

Sound like we don't have long to go before we blow it with him. He wants to commit before the month is up and we haven't pulled the trigger yet with an offer. Unless our coaches are convince they are going to get a commitment from a much better player at his position I don't know what we are waiting for.
