I saw him play last year, and I see him as more of a combo guard than a true PG. I know with proper coaching that can change, but it would be good to see another PG coming up.

You might not like what you see in recruiting then. We are going after a few true point guards like Bass and Jackson, but I can see several scenarios where we bring in 1-2 scoring guard like Brandenberg, Steele, or Johnson instead. We are going after several really good recruits. I just hope we start landing a few commitments soon. With 4 remaining scholarships to give, I hope we can fill at least 2 of those opening this fall. I'm more concerned about us signing a couple of post players this year. They are much harder to come by than guards.

I understand your point Irish. I know the value of a big man, but if we can't put the ball in his hands, we can't properly utilize that position. Out of the remaining players on the offered list, it looks possible to sign 2 PF's, a PG, and a SG. I would be fine with that.

We have 2 guys that can play point guard next year in Evans and Cartharn. We only go 1 deep at PF and C next year. We need to add some depth.

Now that we are done with scheduling we need to kick recruiting into high gear. I'm sick of seeing guys we offered going to other schools. Let's get it going!

No kidding. Its one thing to lose out on an Indiana kid to Butler, but we just got punked by Detroit on two Indiana players. Our list of offered players is shrinking as they all commit elsewhere.

looks like the 2 kids Detroit picked up were a package deal - I think they were on the same HS team (maybe AAU team - I can't remember now).
I agree though - would really like to add another early verbal or two to our 2010 class since we have so many scholarships to fill. There are still some really talented players out there that we seem to be in the mix with though.

We all must be a little more patient. I personally dont know how interested we were in these kids. I know we wanted them but were these realistic prospects? We will get commitments.

We offered scholarships to both kids so I assume we were pretty interested in them. I am just as frustrated as most of you but I am trying to stay patient. There is plenty of time until the early signing period. Brownell's biggest class to date was a couple years back when we signed Land, Pressley, Tabler, Horne, and Evans. I can't remember for sure but I think we also picked up Grote as a transfer that year. I don't think we received our first verbal that year until the end of September and then we ended up with 4 commitments in the early signing period. With any luck the commitments will start rolling in soon.

Anyone that follows recruiting knows that for every kid you sign, you strike out on a dozen or two other kids. That's not just here. Take a look at Butler's recruiting board or Miami's recruiting board and you will see the same thing. I try not to get too frustrated following our recruiting efforts. It's a process. That being said, I agree that we need to step it up a notch or two and start signing some players. We have a big class to fill and we need to get a few players signed in the early period if this is going to be a quality class.
