Todd Brown is better than Boyle or Fletcher.

Todd will be there at the end of the season if we have the type of year we all are hoping for.

I can't see Detroit finishing in 10th place. They had a really good recruiting class.

Athlon always rushes to get their preseason predictions out first. As a result, it isn't very good or accurate.

The UWM board is reporting that the Lindy's picks are from Marc Katz. If so, does he even follow the league outside of you guys? To each his own on the picks, but almost one person on each Horizon board is expecting Detroit to finish closer to the middle of the pack. UIC loses all those guys and he still thinks thinks they are 5th? Well no one had CSU and Butler finishing where they did either I guess

UIC loses all those guys and he still thinks thinks they are 5th? Katz wrote the preview and he does attend all of WSU's home/away games, so he is familiar with the league. My guess is that he wrote that preview a month ago before UIC announced the loss of all of those players. These preseason rags always suck. Blue Ribbon is the only one that does any real research.

Dayton should be in the top 25 this year. They return there whole team that went to the second round of the NCAA tournament last year and add 2 impact players in Benson who red shirted last season and Kavanough. They will be a tough team come NCAA tournament time.
With any luck, we will get a chance to play them in March.

I agree. Having UD ranked in the top 25 to start the year is reasonable. I'll be curious to see where we start the season, especially when compared with Wash, Portland, and Belmont. Washington is a top 20 team right now. That's a real plum for us to open against them. Portland may be ranked ahead of us as well, with Belmont ranked close to us, but lower. What a great way to start the season. Having Miss. State ranked in the top 25, as well as Butler, is also great. Both the men and the women have very solid schedules.

Maybe they crack it if they win their mid season tournament... but not in a preseason poll.. especially 17th.... there's much better teams in the the nation than UD...

Ranking nice, but doesn’t mean muchBy Marc Katz October 1, 2009 FAIRBORN — Wright State men’s basketball coach Brad Brownell was just off the court following a couple individual workouts this week when he was asked about his team’s ranking by Rivals.com as the No. 71 team in the country. That’s a nice spot for a mid-major team, by the way, as it puts the Raiders on the bubble as an NCAA tournament team. “I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to that,” Brownell said. “Most of those predictions are wrong, anyway, and by a lot. “But anytime you get mentioned for something positive, it speaks well of your program.” Rivals.com is slowly making its way through the rankings, and is just up to No. 36 (Vanderbilt) today. It has yet to name where it has placed Butler, the No. 1 team in Wright State’s Horizon League, but be certain the Bulldogs will be in the top 20. After that, Rivals somehow jumped the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee ahead of the Raiders, ranking the Panthers No. 63. After that in the Horizon League, Cleveland State comes in at 143, Wisconsin-Green Bay at 150, Illinois-Chicago at 179, Youngstown State at 198, Detroit at 251, Loyola 258 and Valparaiso at 276. As Brownell says, that may be something to talk about, but official practice doesn’t begin for two more weeks, so this is just speculation. Brownell continues to work with his team in smaller groups, although he could bring the whole squad in to work together. Until Oct. 16, when real team practice begins, coaches are allowed to work out their players only two hours a week. Brownell said he might bring the entire team in next week for a couple of hour-long workouts, but he hasn’t made up his mind. Anyway, after three straight 20-win seasons, the Raiders are starting the season in the minds of many as a top 100 team instead of hoping to end up there. www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/wrightstatesports/entries/2009/10/01/ranking_nice_but_doesnt_mean_m.html
