I know we kind of got screwed this year on the schedule with what we did last year but BD has got to do something in order to get this home schedule somewhat decent. At least try and get some decent mid-majors to come to the Nutt House. As gerb said, hopefully with this schedule we can run the table into conference play or at least only have one lose.

Are we shooting for a 15 seed with this schedule?

I am curious, does anyone have a year where they were happy with the schedule? I don't predict records but, if you are happy with the squad, would the schedule keep you away on certain nights?

TBRF, you might be my all-time favorite student fan. Does that mean you finally graduated? What away games ( if money was no object ) would you attend ( or are you trying to establish a career at work these days )? If you did graduate, congrats.

The press release doesn't even mention the home opener with Mount St. Joseph. Is that bad journalism or did they think we wouldn't notice?

Yes the schedule will keep me away more nights than it will get me to come out. I am not going to pay money to see any of our non-conference games this year. It has nothing to do with liking our squad. I like our squad, but I am not wasting my hard earned money to watch them kick the shit out of a bunch of cupcakes. I will wait to pay to attend games when the HL slate starts when I can watch 2 good basketball teams face off.

Released Friday afternoon. As we all know, that's how you try to bury bad news. At least we got that part right...

I think this year should be the last year our coaches should be allowed to put together the schedule. I think our head coach should be allowed to have input into who we are playing, but our AD should be putting the schedule together. At OSU, football is king and OSU's AD puts together their schedule. At UD, basketball is king and their AD puts together their schedule. At WSU, basketball is our top sport and only sport with revenue potential. Bob Grant needs to take over and start putting together the schedule.

This schedule blows. It isn't going to attract fans and it isn't going to help bring in top recruits.

I wish, I had to transfer to finish out my final year so I'm finishing up at UC. But I'll finally be done this year! haha. I'll probably go to the Miami game since that's not too far away but it's going to be really hard getting myself to drive an hour to watch Manchester...

The one thing we could have going for us with this schedule is that we could very well be 16-1 going into conference play. In fact, I'd be disappointed if we were worse than that. We'll be favored to win every one of those games except for Georgetown and with the experience/chemistry/depth we have returning, stranger things have happened than knocking off the Hoyas. We'd be paper giants and the arena will still be empty the first half of the season, but we SHOULD have a pretty flashy record when HL teams come knocking. That might be enough to attract Joe Everyfan to the game. I'd be surprised if we didn't see more dunks this year, too, which people come to see.
Having said all that, this schedule still blows.

I am very disappointed in this schedule. The majority of it was made last year so our coaches only had to find a tournament and 4 games to finish this schedule.
They took a buy game vs. Georgetown. I'm ok with taking a buy game or 2 every year IF the game is on TV and you are playing a team you have a chance to beat. We got this one on TV, but I don't like our chances vs. Georgetown. They signed us up for the CBE tournament vs. DePaul, South Alabama, and Houston Baptist. When you look for a tournament you want a true tournament on a neutral court where you play teams that will help your resume and RPI. This tournament sucks. The teams have horrible RPIs and 2 of the 3 games are true road games. They scheduled home games vs. Mt St. Joseph, Manchester, and Alcorn State. Our coaches had an entire YEAR to find these few games.
We have a potential NCAA tournament team and I don't think we could get better than a 14 seed in the tournament even if we went undefeated. Whoever is in charge of putting together our schedule should be fired for this.

gerb, I was fussing at the local high school football team because they started out down 20-6. Coaches can't crack the whip every - week...sometimes you just have to trust that the better team will win. I don't want to blame fans or say they aren't true to their team but, - some teams play to the level of their competition. I think we'll see some good games before the first of the year. I think being there all along - is helpful to the team. Willie thinks a schedule for WSU should be as easy as scheduling for UD basketball or OSU football, does anyone else - believe that? I think we could offer Duke a million bucks and they would decline. Anyway, I get that it could be better ( some coaches would
settle for bottom feeders rather than non-D1 if that is what it takes...I don't know dates, times, and budget that led to anyone saying no or - yes ). Can't say that it won't get better if fans stay away but, can't say it makes any sense to think it would force any drastic changes. We - may have to hope teams want an extra game in the area for local players getting to play near home. Now is a good time to fuss, I guess. Once the - season starts I'll think of it as like MLB players getting big bucks...once the game starts it doesn't matter anymore. My goal is 1-0.

Willie thinks a schedule for WSU should be as easy as scheduling for UD basketball or OSU football, does anyone else believe that? Your reading comprehension skills truly suck. I didn't say anything remotely close to that. I said that OSU and UD only trust their AD to put together the schedule for their most important revenue producing sport and I think Grant should do the same here at WSU because our coaches aren't getting it done. In fact, if you look at the best series we have scheduled since Donlon was hired, it was Grant who put it together. Our 2 for 1 with UC was his doing.
