sixth, i you telling me that the nc a & t game was a home and home??? we did a home and home with that low major team??? holy cow, have we reached that point??? I believe you were taking a break from following Wright State last summer when most of our new series were announced. We signed home/home contracts with Eastern Illinois, Bowling Green, North Carolina A&T, Morehead State, and VMI for the season we just finished and next year. We were coming off a crappy 13 win season and I think everyone knows our fan base was not happy with Donlon. Considering how many new faces we were adding to our roster, I think it was a smart move at the time. Hopefully, we can supplement the remainder of the schedule with some better teams for next year.

Morehead State and Evansville will be tough games away. BG will bring some of their alumni down, and you need a couple games where we are the clear cut favorites, so Eastern Illinois and VMI make sense. I'm ok with the schedule for now. But if we have to schedule a D-III team, which I hope we can avoid, at least get a good one with alumni that will help with attendance (i.e. pretty much only Wittenberg)....

Fairly certain I read that return bb games from this season had to be returned in November or December this next season. I know it was the next two years...but I recall this being a change that the bb set for the last year if play.

clearly we were desperate to schedule some crummy teams. since i did not plop down $350 or so for season tickets i really did not think too much about it. but scheduling home and homes with some of these folks just smells. this nc a&t for example. a middle of the pack meac team....29th ranked conference....that is out of 33 i think. their average rpi for the past 5 years is 265 or so. they are a low major whether they are in the dance or not. a number of low majors are in there of course. some of those other teams you mentioned may be just as bad, i don't know. but this one should never have been a home and home. maybe prarie view a & m will be next.

Scheduling is extremely tough. Major conferences look at us the same way we look at lower tier conferences. I'm not giving coach a hard time on our schedule. Just focus on players, recruiting and winning. This year was a lot more fun then playing all the major teams and losing terribly last year. We do well in our conference, maintain staying on top, get upgraded to bigger conferences and grow that way. Non conference schedule means very little to me.

Anyone know if Miami is off the schedule for sure?

Here are the RPIs of the seven schools mentioned above.
E. Ill. 280
NCA&T 207
Morehead 182
Bowling Green 275
VMI 301
Evansville 89
UMKC 285
Of the 7 schools, one is in the top 100 and 6 are in the bottom half of the nation.
With Cusack at NK for a few months, will they be on our schedule for next season?

I know we had to get creative with hosting the 2nd and 3rd CBI games at the Nutter this year and I'm hoping that "creativity" is paid off next year. I believe the phrase used for hosting the last two games without taking a financial hit was "future considerations."
Well, the Gazelle Group that runs the CBI also runs the 2K Classic, Legends Classic, and Gotham Classic. Next year's 2K Classic already has the host schools set with IU, UConn, Boston College, and Washington. Those schools host two home games and then play at MSG with the remaining participants playing another 2 games. Typically the 8 other schools end up playing 1 home, 2 road, and 1 neutral game. If it's a decent field WSU could end up playing 1 BCS school and 3 top 175 RPI schools. If we can swing that I think I would prefer the BC game as I believe that would be a very winnable game (as things are now).
Additionally, the Gotham Classic is set too with Notre Dame and Ohio State. Again, these schools play at MSG, but host two games at home before they play in NYC. If WSU were invited to this the Raiders would play both UND and tOSU on the road along with playing against two other Mid/low major schools.
Based on what we expect to return next year playing one or two BCS caliber teams along with some decent mid-majors in a MTE would be a desired challenge and needed test for this team.
Perhaps the "future consideration" means that WSU takes a slightly lower guarantee with either of these MTE's to make the Gazelle Group whole with this year's CBI games at WSU. If that's the creative way of doing it than I'm for the Gotham Classic as travel would be limited to Columbus and South Bend.
I also think with relatively high expectations for next year's team games vs. tOSU, UND, or IU could end up being televised on one of the networks.

That all sounds great. I hope it comes about, as it would be a big boost to our SOS.

I think they meant in 2-3 years when they mentioned we would get future consideration. Wright State really wants to play in a tournament towards the end of December after Chrishawn Hopkins is eligible to play.

I don't see our schedule getting finalized until much later than usual this year due to all of this conference expansion BS going on.
