Yep, the Men's Basketball program is completely out of control. Fire Donlon now. I think we can get Ed Shilling to come back. We never had these kind of problems with players during his tenure. Man how I miss those halcyon days of a clean cut, church going squad of 9 scholarship players and getting drilled by 30 points at home by nearly every league opponent.

I am not completely on the "Fire Donlon" bandwagon yet. He is only a part of the blame for why these players have gotten into trouble. Nonetheless, what is quite concerning is with the exception of Sledge, none of these players have faced any sort of punishment. I would say it is ridiculous to fire Donlon if he was punishing his players for their off the court issues, but he cannot truthfully say he is doing anything about it because he is not. Hopefully this team gets it together before it leaves administration with no choice but to fire Donlon.

Mandy, in what capacity do you work for men's basketball? How do you know Donlon isn't doing anything? He may make them run until they puke. He may have them do some kind of chore or community service. What about the parents? One set may take a car away for a semester, while another may think, "hey, that's my boy!". The fans wouldn't ever hear of anything like that because it wouldn't be considered as our business. In the case of Lett, I believe his incident was 3 months ago. Not sure what was going on team-wise but, if it gets you worked up then it was clearly something that you weren't in the loop about.
Interesting to read the comments.

You are being very naïve if you think that it isn't any of our business. Like it or not, college athletes and coaches are public figures. When they screw up, they are embarrassing the school, the student body, and alumni they are representing and for me that means something. I graduated from Wright State and I donate regularly to Wright State. I don't like it when athletes, coaches, professors, etc. break the law and hurt our public image. These are all adults and have to live with the consequences of their actions and poor decisions. When they publically embarrass Wright State, I want to know Wright State is doing something about it to STOP it from happening in the future. Obviously, whatever Donlon has tried in the past has failed since this continues to be an ongoing problem.

Willie, I'm curious...if Lett is a walk-on that will sit out this season, does that qualify for your right to know what goes on behind closed doors? Luckily, you don't have to convince me, if the coach, AD, or university president agree with you then I'm sure they will pass it along.
On one level I wonder if past actions haven't worked, such as repeats of the same offense for a particular player.
They need more milkshakes.

For the record, Lett is a walk on this year with the promise of going on scholarship next year. Even if he was just a pure walk on with no chance to earn a scholarship he is still suiting up as a Raider. If he is wearing our jersey as a member of the team he should be held to the same standards as any other athlete, coach, or WSU employee.

Willie, if records are public then you can look them up for yourself. It is not the duty or responsibility of the University or Athletic Department to release any information. What they share comes after legal advice. I would have a definite policy regarding infractions. Assign a strike value from 1-3, and three strikes and your scholarship is gone. Tell them the rules and both sides will abide by the rules.

Willie, if records are public then you can look them up for yourself. It is not the duty or responsibility of the University or Athletic Department to release any information. What they share comes after legal advice. First, it is 100% the responsibility of the athletic department to release punishments for athletes that break the rules IF they want to have a fan base and donors willing to support their program. The athletic department like any other business cannot afford constant negative PR is they want to be successful. They need fans willing to financially support the university. Second, it has been the athletic department's policy to talk to the media about disciplinary actions they have taken against athletes, coaches, employees ever since we have had a university. Our AD and school president talked to the media after we fired Coach Underhill after his arrest in the 1990s. They talked to the media and announced a suspension after Duggins was arrested. They did the same last year after Sledge was arrested. The absolute best thing the university can do from a PR standpoint is to announce a punishment after someone associated with the university breaks the law. It sends a message that the university does not condone that behavior.

Former Raiders Coach Jim Brown is going to be calling all WSU games this year with CHris Collins according to Klinger on RRB.

This is great news. And it is long overdue. Chris should have had a permanent partner way before this. Coach Brown will do a fantastic job.

So, (and perhaps I missed it) but are we back on 980 WONE this year?

The games remain on 106.5. The coach's show ( after the first couple of weeks ) is on 980. I think the conflict on WONE is a coach's show for Centerville football ( I've been told...anyway, high school raps up the regular season this week so, I don't know if it matters whether Centerville keeps winning - if it is even true that this is why all of Billy's shows won't be on WONE ).
