Does anyone think any of the Raiders are going to be First Team All-Horizon this year? I don't know that he'll be first team, but Mitchell has the best shot. Here's the league's/WSU stat leaders as of today. Mitchell is second in both rebounds and assists, which is simultaneously weird and awesome. He's not doing too shabby in other categories, either. Scoring 1. Cameron Morse YSU 23.7 5. Alstork 16.5 13. Davis 14.8 18. Mitchell 12.8 23. Benzinger 11.5 FG% 1. Bryce Nze UWM .736 8. Justin Mitchell FT% 1. Chris Jenkins DET .952* 6. Alstork .811 *INTERESTING NOTE: 2-4 are all Valpo players. Do not foul them. Ever. REB 1. Alec Peters VAL 11.2 2. Mitchell 9.5 ASSISTS 1. Tarkus Ferguson UIC 5.6 2. Mitchell 5.0 9. Alstork 3.3 STEALS 1. Josh McFolley DET 2.3 No WSU players 3PT % 1. Turner Botz UWGB .473 3. Benzinger .449 BLOCKS 1. Tai Odiase UIC 3.3 No WSU players A/TO RATIO 1. Brailen Neely OAK 2.3 4. Mitchell 1.7 10. Alstork 0.8

Justin Mitchell should, but not sure if he will be voted in. He's 3rd in team scoring at 12.8/game, first in rebounds at 9.5/game, first in assists at 65. And he is shotting 55.5% from the field. These are league stats through 13 games. Alstork gets a lot of press for his scoring, but Mitchell is the glue that keeps the team together. I couldn't agree more. Mitchell is the most consistent player and makes us a competitive team in each game. He doesn't usually get the attention and hype like Alstork and Davis, but without Mitchell, alot of really great things wouldn't happen for this team. I'm so excited to see him as a senior! ...but let's not get ahead of ourselves, we have 5 games and a conference tourney to win still!

J-Mitch probably won't make 1st Team All Horizon, that is usually reserved for scorers and named favorites. J-Mitch wasn't on the radar screen at the beginning of the year, other than Raider fans. He may make 2nd team and should definitely make the All Defensive team because of his rebounding. But we will see.

Unfortunately I don't think Mitchell has a chance at 1st team for the reasons above. Maybe if he raises his scoring to over 15/game while maintaining assists and rebounds. He needs to be recognized on one of All-HL teams though.

19-9 overall, 10-5 HL. RPI around 110.
We're good.

19-9 overall, 10-5 HL. RPI around 110. We're good. But I'm not satisfied. Mark needs to develop ball handling and we need a PG as well as a serious big man. If we win out, even if we don't win the HL Tourney, I'd bet we get invited to the NIT. But I have a really good feeling about the tourney.

We aren't even close to getting an NIT bid with our record and RPI. We got snubbed by the NIT when we had an RPI in the low 70s early in the Brad Brownell era.

We are not going to the NIT. That is reserved for the Big 6 conference nobody's that did not make the NCAA for the most part. Lets just take care of business in the Horizon League Tournament.

Are they still having the CIT and CBI Tournaments? I think the Vegas 8 or 16 is defunct. I couldn't find anything when I googled NIT-ology, in past years it showed how the lower tourneys would sort out also ran teams. I would like to see the Raiders go to a post season tourney, they can use some of the money they saved by not hosting the presidential debate. Talking about extra games, when was they last time WSU went overseas during the off-season? Didn't they cancel a trip a few years ago for disciplinary reasons? Drop, we aren't playing in one of those pay you play tournaments unless some donors step up and offer to pay and even then I highly doubt it. We lost 2 million on that presidential debate fiasco and that money would have come from WSUs general fund anyways not our athletic department funds. If you haven't been paying attention for the last year, Wright State has been hemoraging money due to stupid business decisions. It's the main reason our president decided to retire (he was given the choice to announce his retirement or he would have been fired). When it comes to our athletic department, we invested 500k into Coach Nagy's salary plus increased the assistant coaches salary too. We made that investment hoping season ticket sales increase would offset that. It did not. So to put it plainly even if some big donors step up to the plate for a pay to play tournament, Grant will probably ask them to just make that donation to our general athletic department fund to be used to cover our losses on the season instead of playing in some waste of time tournament.

Valpo went and won last year. Granted with a much better record than ours currently, but what I meant was that if we win out we'll be invited because teams who win regular season conference and lose their tourney get invited automatically. Does the NIT have a fee? I can't find anything on that. If we beat Valpo, and win our other three games (which really isn't a stretch by any definition of the word) and Valpo drops one, we tie the conference with them, correct? Or does their overall record put them ahead of us? I don't know how that situation works. Albeit there is still green bay and Oakland, but they play each other and that will put one of them out of contention most likely. hh, I completely agree on taking care of the tourney, and like I said, I really like our chances at that, but with only three games left and how crazy close the top four teams in the league are, it's hard to not think about winning regular season too, and of course winning every game is the goal anyways. It would be really nice to have that in our back pocket going into the tourney knowing we get a postsesason bid already but now we're fighting for the REAL bid. We've come frustratingly close too many times recently, and being a Bengals fan, I'm sick of getting to the elimination games and getting my heart ripped out. But unlike the Bengals, we got a new leader. Let's take care of business.

Also, can anyone help me with this question? How does the selection of the first four work? Do automatic bids bypass the first four or do they get put in it every so often? I went to first four last year, and I thought Michigan won Big Ten championship, didn't they? I was just wondering. I don't want to jump the gun here, we have a lotttttt of basketball to play before the NCAA tourney, but what are peoples thoughts about the first four and our chances at making the tourney with an auto bid? Would people like to see us in first four, or would it be better to be in the overall group? I'm just curious, I know we have no say in it, but if we did, where would you guys like to see us?

Tie breaker rules: If two tied teams met twice during the regular season and one of the two won both games, the winner shall be awarded the higher seed.
If two tied teams split in two games during the regular season, compare each team’s record against the team occupying the highest position in the standings and continue down through the standings until one team gains the advantage, thereby winning the higher position.
If three or more teams are tied, compare the combined record of each of the tied teams against the other teams involved in the tie until an advantage is gained. (Example: Team A’s combined record against both Team B and Team C as compared to Team B’s combined record against both A and C, etc.)
If the provision of (3) above fail to resolve a tie involving three or more teams, compare each of the tied team’s records against the team occupying the highest position in the standings and continue down through the standings until the tie is reduced to a two-team tie, at which time revert to items (1) and (2) above or until the tie is broken.
If the above provisions fail to resolve a tie, the team with the higher RPI for that season will receive a higher seed (source for RPI: Collegiate Basketball News).www.horizonleague.org/blog/horizon-league-mens-basketball-tournament-scenarios-tie-breakers.html

I agree with Big D, we're not getting in the NIT this year. But I'm extremely pleased with how well this team has played during a so-called rebuilding season.

It seems everyone on the board refers to this season as a rebuilding year, but is it really? Yes, its a year under new leadership, but Nagy had very limited impact this year in rebuilding the roster. He brought in 3 new players, and only 1 is actively on the roster and playing. Next year with Nagy's recruits of Love, Gentry, Mitchell, and Hall( a likely Redshirt) and possibly another Big added to the roster in the late signing period, next year will be the rebuilding year, in my opinion. Regardless, I'm as pleased as anyone on this board with the results this season. It's been a fun team to watch.
And I realize that if Davis is granted another year, that as of now, there are no open scholarships for another Big, but I fully expect at least one 'ship to open up. That's pure speculation on my part as I have no inside info on who may or may not be back next year. I just have a real gut feeling that at least one, or possibly two guys on this years roster will be moving on to greener pastures.

We got snubbed by the NIT when we had an RPI in the low 70s early in the Brad Brownell era. What year was that? If that was his last year, I don't think they finished in the low 70s RPI. Would have been if they hadn't dropped games to OU and CSU at the end of the year.
