7-4 vs. D1.
We're okay.
...and for the moment, I'm fine with that.

7-4 vs. D1. We're okay. ...and for the moment, I'm fine with that. What's our RPI? Good? I believe we're #2 in the HL in RPI and I would consider that good. And for anyone saying we're "just" 9-4 (7-4 v D-I) ... none of you likely thought we'd have this good of a record after 13 games with a new coach who inherited a very short roster (literally and figuratively). Now, he also inherited some nice pieces with Alstork (Horizon MVP candidate -- although I'm sure Peters from Valpo will win it), Steven Davis (breakout season), Benzinger and Mitchell, but Nagy is still proving very early in his WSU tenure that he's a very good coach that will get the most out of his team. He's not a miracle worker and I don't think we'll be an NCAA tourney team this year (although we'll be a very tough out in the HL tourney), but I absolutely LOVE the trajectory of this program. Things have changed for the better in a very short period of time.

If we get to double digits, I'll say we're good, but it's really just semantics.

RPI is #123. Strength of Schedule is #214.
Valpo took a big hit last night with their home loss to Santa Clara. Down to #63. Entered the game around #40 +/-. NKU and UWGB are the only other members with RPI's better than 200...#147 and #155 respectively. The conference is back down to #18.
7-4 vs. D. I comp. That's good. I'm more impressed with our 3-3 road record against decent foes. If we can finish with a .500 or better road % and a . 800% D I home record I will consider this a very successful season.

We're "good." No one said great or even close. But we're better than "OK." We're good.

I like that we have 4 players averaging double figures. We are spreading the scoring around.
Mark Alstork 20.4 ppg
Stephn Davis 15.3
Grant Benzinger 11.5
Justin Mitchell 10.5
Add in that Mike LaTulip is hitting 50% of his perimeter shots and that is a nice scoring punch!
To me the key might be Parker. At 6-10 he gives us much needed size and allows others to slide into their more natural positions like Stephen Davis at the 4 and Grant Benzinger at the 2 or 3 position instead of having to defend the other teams power forward. Parker seems to have really helped this team defensively ( Nagy said he is our best defender FWIW ). He currently averages 4.4 ppg and 2.3 rpg and an incredible 78.1% on FT's ( 25 -32 ). With more minutes I wouldn't be surprised to see Parkers line increase to 6.4 ppg and 4.3 rpg which would do wonders for this team.
I am "hopeful" that we can contend for the top 3 or 4 spots in the Horizon League but we'll see.............

Drop, I think the reason is they are enjoying playing for Coach Nagy. It is more fun and they are winning. When you enjoy and having fun with what you are doing, it isn't as tiring because your adrenaline is flowing.

I agree that we are good. Winning on the road is tough in college basketball and Coach Nagy seems to be able to get the best out of the team to put them in a position to win.

I think we are better than most of us expected we were going to be, but by no means would I consider us even close to "good". Good teams beat other good teams, and none of our wins this year are against any particularly good teams. I'm excited for the future, though, and certainly do commend Coach Nagy and crew for what we've managed to do this year considering the whole "rebuilding" thing. Aspects of this year get a pass; next year and subsequent years will of course be held to different standards.

OK.

OK. No it's not good. 7-4 vs D1 by itself isn't good. Being 7-4 vs a very mediocre schedule makes that even less impressive. And in case you haven't figured out from the multiple posts on this topic but the HL sucks. The league has sucked for several years now and this is looking to be one of the worst years for the conference in recent memory. To say we have the second best RPI in the conference is no better than saying we have the second nicest turd in a huge pile of shit.

LMAO. Second best turd in a huge pile of shit. That should be the top quote of 2016. Twizman, fans are happy that we are 7-4, but you can't pee on our legs and tell us it's raining. WSU is far from being the type of team we have become used to seeing. We are happy the rebuilding process is going better than expected, but stop trying to cram it down our throats that we are a good team.
