There are reasons to think Anderson was in over his head. See Nagy’s comments in DDN. Reason to think Welage has peaked. Reason to think sweiger may have never started a game at Wright. KK May be great, could be a big loss. Could be a flop. Un proven. Starting to be excited by how many scholarships we now have. Why on earth would you be excited about the number of open scholarships we have. At no time whatsoever has this staff shown the ability to land anyone worth a shit in the late signing period that they did not already have a prior relationship with let alone multiple players. Nagy will probably sign 4 high school seniors and still decide to redshirt all 7 incoming freshmen.

I have no inside knowledge but after back to back subpar years, I expect to see at least a guy or 2 will leave. There are a few guys that are good enough to have a chance to make money playing somewhere else or didn’t play as much as they expected this year and want to move on for more playing time somewhere else.

Why would any students show up for this team? There's no fight in them, as soon as they are down they act defeated. Often when they turn out we choke. No idea what osu did to Tanner but he's just not the same player. The disappointing season continues. I wish fans wouldn't question the heart of the players on this team. I see a team full of players that are playing hard and trying to play to the best of their abilities. I also see a team that is unable to play consistent basketball, because they are worn out due to five players getting the bulk of the minutes. This team has three star players, Noel, Calvin and Holden. But, does this team have a leader? I don't think so. This team is talented, but I think it is missing a leader on the court. I think Finke was the leader the last few years and his absence is felt this year. Tanner Holden is still a very good player, he is not as sharp as I remember, but he has had a decent year. Try comparing Holden to Amari Davis, I thought we were getting a superstar in Davis when he transferred to WSU, but his performance didn't come close to the expectations. Anyway, the Wright State players all seem to be nice kids. They seem composed on the court and come across as nice and genuine when interviewed. I wish fans would stop making bs argument to defend this team. Saying this team is playing hard but losing games because we only play 5 players and they are worn out is bs. That argument would hold some water if we were playing good earlier in the year and have been taking a nosedive late in the season due to the guys getting worn down. That isn’t the case. We are losing because our players refuse to put in the effort to play good defense. That was a problem at the beginning of the year and it’s still a problem now. We’ve had games were we have only played 6 to 7 players and other games where we have played 10. The defense has sucked all year and it’s due to a lack of effort and hustle. The old Butler teams that dominated the horizon league did so because they played with great intensity on both ends of the court and played very disciplined team basketball. They were never the most athletic team on the court. They just played harder than everybody else. That’s why they were able to beat the big boys consistently. This team gets out hustled to almost every loose ball and gets killed on the board solely due to the lack of effort. These guys put almost all of their energy into scoring buckets and next to none on the defensive end of the court. You are never gonna win games like that consistently.

Quite frankly I enjoyed watching the women’s team much more than the men’s team yesterday. Coach Nagy might want to sit down with our women’s team coach and get some insight on how she rebuilt their roster from nothing mixing high school recruiting with a whole bunch of girls from the portal trying to find girls that fit her system and how she builds team chemistry. Nagy’s roster has a lot of square pegs that he is trying to fit into round holes. He needs to figure out a way to rebuild his roster and probably a good portion of his coaching staff if he wants to play his style of ball. This team is not built to play his style of ball and I doubt Bob Grant is going to give him 3-4 more years to rebuild his roster to get it there the way Nagy likes to build his roster through high school kids and the redshirt process.

I tend to disagree. Here’s my thought, I think we are top 3 without Tanner, we may be one of the better mid-majors in the country with him. This is easily the deepest team we have had in awhile, and if we can keep the guys in the post healthy and Carter and Meyer and some of our other taller guards can help some at the four. We should be a very good shooting team, rebounding is my biggest concern this year. I also hope coach doesn’t red shirt very many guys. We need to play them so we don’t wear down at the end of the season, and with the portal very few guys stay 5 years anymore. I like this team and agree with you bballraider. I agree with some of what Ukraine Train said too. Coach Nagy really needs to use our bench more this year and get some of our young talented players on the court and live with some of the mistakes they are going to make transitioning to D1. We have a lot of great shooters and that is the big equilizer when you are playing bigger competition.
