A picture of a girl makes your father shake his head? It wasn't provocative at all and I've certainty made more provocative pictures than that one. If that makes your dad shake your head than I suppose women should be wearing veils or something along those lines... You really just don't seem to get it. The problem his father had with it is probably the same problem most of us have with it. Any man who considers himself a gentlemen treats women with respect. Period. End of sentence. You never disrespect a women, especially when you are trying to get to a man. It doesn't matter what the picture was displaying. The fact that you are using a players girlfriend, sister, or mother to go after that player makes you classless and in the mind of our generation, not a man. A real man picks his fights with men, not their women. One of these days, one of those players is going to go into the stands and kick your scrawny little ass and you will deserve it.

Please 6th man, show me ONE inappropriate saying that was on ANY picture in our student section... heck... show me ONE inappropriate picture that was used. Really. I'm dead serious. For your information the only rules regarding those pictures starting this season is that I do not put names on the pictures. But as we see the mighty posters of the proboards site trumps the opinions and governing rules of our athletic dept and governing bodies. The reason they had to make a rule about putting names on the pictures is because our student section spent an entire season taking pictures of opposing player's girlfriend's off of facebook and making posters of them. I don't have pictures of any of those posters or the phrases that were written on them. The fact that our athletic department made rules this season so you couldn't put names on them anymore pretty much backs up what I was saying about it being inappropriate. Seriously, I glad we have students at games. But I'm with Nutt House that some things should be off limits. Making posters of a player's girlfriend is cheap and inappropriate. I don't see how you can talk about being proud of your high school's award for sportsmanship and defend this type of crap in the same breath.

The point Nutt House was making is that the award is based on enthusiasm, originality, good sportsmanship and overall atmosphere. Our student generally show a lack of sportsmanship. The "Wright State Reject" chant was just one recent example. Another example of this is when students created life size posters of opposing player's girlfriends with innappropriate comments written on them. That type of behavior is going to be seen as a lack of sportsmanship.
FYI, if you don't like all of the complaining on this board feel free to go to Raiderroundball. No one is forcing you to post here.

Miss St was just too big and athletic for our depleted roster and the game plan we tried to run. We should have never gotten into a shootout with them. We never had a chance.

1 assist isn't great but where would we have been without him in the 2nd half. Grote & Tabler couldn't handle their pressure. We lose by 15 or more without Evans ball handling & nice drives to the rack What game were you watching? The reason we came back in the second half was because we stopped letting Evans run the point. Cartharn and Grote were bringing the ball up the court. The offense moved much better in the second half when they inserted Cartharn into the lineup. Evans played OK. He's a 2 guard being forced to play the point. The real problem was Tabler. He couldn't buy a basket and he couldn't guard anyone on the court.

That was a fun game. It got sloppy, but it's an exhibition. We aren't supposed to be in mid season form yet.

I like the schedule. It stinks that we don't get a return game vs Miss St, but I didn't even think we were going to get a D1 game for our final game. I can live with it.

They were all good teams. There is no reason to rip one team down to elevate another.

I started the "last scholarship for 2009" thread that lasted all of last season, so I thought it would be fitting that I start another one for 2010. We either have 4 or 5 scholarships for the 2010 class depending on if we sign a late 2009 recruit or not. Who do you think we will target and who do you think will be the first to commit?

Baseball Homers Four Times in Game Two Victory at Youngstown State May 8, 2009 NILES, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team homered four times and Alex Kaminsky fanned five in a complete game effort in the Raiders 13-4, six inning victory in a rain-shortened contest at Youngstown State. The Raiders tallied 13 runs for the second straight contest and Ryan Ashe smacked his first career home run to help pace WSU in the win. Youngstown State got the scoring started with a two-run home run off the bat of Jeremy Banks against the Wright State starting pitcher, Kaminsky. It was only the second home run allowed by Kaminsky and gave WSU an early 2-0 lead. The Raiders struck back in the top half of the second inning as Quentin Cate smacked his second home run of the day – ninth of the year – to left-center field, after Casey McGrew walked to start the frame. Later in the inning, Hibberd hit his third home run of the season and WSU led 3-2 heading into the third. In the third frame, the Raiders added four more runs, the first on an RBI bunt single from Casey McGrew, to extend their lead to 7-2. In the frame, Ashe hit his first career home run – a three run shot – to right field to cap the scoring in the third inning. After Youngstown State added a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 7-4, the Green and Gold added five runs in the fourth to extend their lead. In the frame, the first eight batters reached base and four players collected RBI’s against a pair of YSU pitchers. Cate doubled and drove in two in the frame, while R.J. Gundolff, Mercer and McGrew all drove in runs, as well. Mercer capped the scoring in the final inning played with a solo home run to left-center field. The line drive homer sailed over the 375 sign for the fifth home run of the season for the senior. Kaminsky tossed all six innings, allowing four runs on nine hits to improve to 4-2 overall on the year. He didn’t walk a batter and fanned five in the outing to collect his first career complete game. In the game, eight of the nine WSU starters collected hits and six players drove in RBI’s in game two. Cate raised his average to .356 with a three-for-three showing and five other WSU players collected two hits apiece in the rain shortened contest. The Raiders improve to 26-24 overall on the season and are 12-9 in the Horizon League with their double-header sweep at Youngstown State. The Green and Gold will now head to Lorain, Ohio to take on Cleveland State in a twinbill at Pip Yard Stadium on Saturday, May 9 starting at 1:00. www.wsuraiders.com/sports/m-basebl/recaps/050809aad.html

Baseball Holds on For 6-5 Victory Over Dayton May 5, 2009 DAYTON, Ohio – Aaron Fields drove in a pair of RBI’s and Jordan Marker held the Flyers hitless over the first three innings to help the Wright State baseball team to a 6-5 victory over cross town rival Dayton on Tuesday evening at Nischwitz Stadium. The capacity crowd of 836 watched as the Green and Gold snapped Dayton’s 12-game winning streak by scoring two runs in three separate innings. The Raiders got on the board in the opening frame when Quentin Cate singled with runners on first and second to score the first run of the contest. Cate and Mercer, who was hit by a pitch to reach base, moved to second and third on an error by the left fielder and Mercer came in to score on a Ryan Ashe RBI ground out. WSU tacked on two more runs in the second inning when Garrett Gray walked with one out to start the frame and Tristan Moore singled to put two runners on. Fields stepped in and doubled on the next pitch to plate Gray and Moore, giving WSU the early 4-0 lead. UD (32-15) got their first run in the third against starting pitcher Jordan Marker as an error allowed a base runner to reach and a sacrifice fly scored the run, unearned. Casey Henn entered for WSU in the fourth and got into some trouble as he allowed a leadoff double, hit a batter and walked one to load the bases. Jake Hoover singled to score the first run of the inning and after a line drive out, a walk forced in the second run of the frame. Greg Robinson came on and coaxed a double-play ball out of Jacob Speath to end the threat with WSU leading 4-3. Two runs in the fourth extended the Raiders lead to 6-3 as Mercer and McGrew each collected their first RBI’s of the contest with back-to-back doubles. The RBI for Mercer was his 50th of the season, marking only the second time in school history (Kris Jarosz, 1995 & 1995) that a WSU player has posted back-to-back 50-RBI seasons. Robinson held the Flyers scoreless in the fifth and Travis LaMar tossed a one-two-three sixth to hold the Raiders lead at 6-3. UD added a run in the seventh against LaMar, as a passed ball allowed another unearned run to score, making it a 6-4 lead in favor of WSU. Lee Valencheck came on in the eighth and retired the first batter, but allowed a single and walked a batter, before Michael Schum came on in relief. An RBI single up the middle brought in the first run of the inning but Schum got a ground out and struck out a batter to hold the Raiders lead at 6-5. Schum coaxed a ground out to start the ninth, struck out the second batter and Mercer made a diving stop and tossed to Schum at the bag for the final out of the contest. It was the 11th save of the season for the right-hander as he fanned two in 1.2 innings of work with only one hit. Fields drove in a pair of runs from the leadoff spot, while Cate went four-for-five with an RBI to raise his average to .337. The first five batters in the WSU lineup collected RBI’s and Moore scored a pair of runs in the game. The Raiders (24-24) out-hit Dayton 11-8 and WSU turned a pair of double plays to stifle Flyer rallies in the contest. WSU stranded 12 runners in the contest, while UD left only nine runners aboard. Marker got the win to improve to 2-0 on the season with three innings of no-hit baseball. He walked one and allowed only an unearned run. Chris Beesley (4-3) took the loss for Dayton, allowing four runs – three earned – on five hits and a pair of walks. Wright State will return to action this weekend with a pair of double-headers in Horizon League play. WSU will open with a twinbill at Youngstown State on Friday, May 8th at Eastwood field. The start time of those games are now 3:00, a change from the original start time announced at the beginning of the season. www.wsuraiders.com/sports/m-basebl/recaps/050509aaa.html
