None of the juniors are leaving unless we have one ready to graduate. Hopkins is a 4th year junior after sitting out last season. He should be on track to graduate this year. It don't take a genius to figure there are 2 players that sit the bench who are not buying into defense defense defense or can't do it. It will be a shame too. Davis already sat out last year as a non-qualifier. If he transferred he would lose a year of eligibility and I doubt he would want to sit out another year after sitting out last year and barely playing this year. With Young, Darling, and Pacher graduating, he knows he has a good chance of starting next year or at least be in the 2 deep. I would be more worried about Howell. He isn't playing hardly at all this year. He is behind Reggie and Hopkins now on the depth chart and next year we are bringing in 2 other guards that also play PG. Possibly a de-commit from a recruit? All of our current recruits are signed. They cannot just de-commit. They would have to be released from their LOI by WSU.

If he gets a JUCO center who will be leaving? We haven't made it through a single season since Donlon has been here (including his time as an assistant coach under Brownell) that we didn't have at least 1 offseason transfer.

I'm not to sure about your last comment. I think that there are people watching the games we play and are wondering what's going on. Your right about one thing though, if Michael Jordan, Mose Malone and the like were on this team they would be sitting the bench and be playing defense defense defense. I honestly do not know why any athlete would want to play for Donlon. If you make a campus visit and watch one of our practices and/or watch any of our games you know what to expect from him. He is all about disciplined defense and methodical offense to run time off the clock and find a good high percentage shot. I understand why smart average athletes that can shoot the ball want to play for him. His system works for those kids because it will maximize their skills. I don't understand why someone like Jeran would want to play for him knowing that Donlon wants him to conform to his system rather than Donlon finding a way to get him to excel with his skill sets. That being said, Donlon's system can be successful. It was successful for Brownell at WSU and it is successful for him now at Clemson. It is also basically the same system Butler dominated the HL with for the last decade. You have to recruit the right type of players to have success with it though and our current group of players is not right for this system. We have too many athletes that can't utilize their skills in this offense and we have too many average athletes that just don't shoot well enough to run Donlon's system right. My guess is we will limp through the remainder of the season finishing in the top 1/3 of the HL but won't make post season play. For better or worst, that isn't going to get Donlon fired. He will go into next season with a roster that suits his system better and hopefully will have better results.

It doesn't matter who Billy D recruits. He does not know how to use them..... Jerran young and Stephen Davis are coming off the bench when they should be starting. If you can't score with these guys, there is no future for billy d at WSU Donlon likes guys that play ball within his system. The athletes you mentioned above do not do that. The are freelancers and as long as they try to operate outside of his system, they aren't going to get playing time. Davis doesn't play more because he gets out of position too often on defense and he chucks up 3 pointers as soon as he touches the ball on offense. First, he isn't shooting well from 3 so it is a bad shot and second, he is shooting way too early without letting the shot clock wind down. And we all know that Donlon wants to run shot clock. Those are the 2 basics any player needs to get to earn playing time for Donlon. Play good defense and run the offense until you have a high percentage shot. If you cannot get that, you are going to find yourself at the end of the bench. If you look at the guards Donlon is bringing in next year, they fit his system. Most of them are 3 point specialist that will excel in a motion offense. They are also very team oriented guys that work within their offense. Donlon isn't close to being on the hot seat at WSU so you might as well get used to him and his system.

WSU only had 3 players log more than 25 minutes today, these kids won't be tired, WSU's depth should win the game. Unless the Coach gets in the way. This is still our 3rd game in 4 days. UWM also has an extra day of rest since their last games.

Milwaukee is a much better team than last year and they will be better rested than us. We will need our "A game" to pull this one out.

UIC has finished in the basement of the HL for years. They lose most of their team from this year that only finished in 6th place and they have very little coming in next year. I don't see them being competitive in the HL anytime soon. I don't see them being competitive in the MVC anytime soon either. I'm with wrightstatefan on this one. Losing Butler was a major blow to the HL. I'd rather lose Loyola since they don't have a baseball team, but only losing UIC wouldn't be much of a blow at all.

After next year we will lose 5 seniors, three of them big men, 4 if you count Vest at 6'5". If I'm counting right we have offered 'ships to 11 players. One of them is a big man. I don't know how these things work, but that seems to be "skewed". That means that in the '14-'15 season we would have Sledge, Yoho, and maybe one new big man. Are we planning to have a 4 guard starting line up? We have 2 scholarship offers to players Donlon considers interior players: David Bell and Riley Norris. The bigger schools recruiting Norris see him as a SF. Donlon therefor sees him as a PF. Besides Sledge and Yoho, we will also have 6-7 Stephen Davis available for the 2014/15 season. That being said, I think most Raider fans would agree that we need more interior players and need to put much more effort into recruiting them.

My absolute biggest frustration with Donlon and his rotation is that he doesn't give Bobo Drummond any playing time. Donlon has spent the last 7 years of his life trying to get some in roads in recruiting in Illinois. We finally land 2 Illinois recruits (from the top AAU program in the country) and Donlon doesn't play either one. I understand why Roddy isn't playing. He came to WSU late, he had surgery and missed most of the preseason's practices and he also had to make the transition from high school center to college SF. He should have just been red shirted. The same cannot be said of Drummond. He was a highly sought after recruit. He signed with Southern Illinois over an offer from Illinois last fall. He re-openned his recruitment after Southern Illinois went through a coaching change last spring. He signed with WSU over offers from UC and Kansas State. He was the starting PG for the best AAU program in the country and the starting PG for a top 10 prep school last year. Why the heck isn't he getting at least a few minutes every game. He hasn't played in over 1/2 of our games this year. The 10 that he did see the court in, he only averaged 5 minutes. most of those games he only played 1 minute or less. Reggie is streaky as hell. He can be a superstar one game and play like crap the next. There is no reason whatsoever that we should be playing him as many minutes as we are and not give Bobo a chance on the court.
The kid is going to transfer at the end of the year at this rate. We will lose a good basketball talent and blow a chance at future recruits from that area if that happens.
Here are a few of Bobo's highlight tapes from high school. Do you think he should we sitting on the bench?
