Raidergrad98, I would have liked that, too. I would have been happy to move to the back and just listen. Technically, guess it qualified for a presser because Coach Nagy was willing to talk to all of them but, I'm sure someone asked a question that we may miss seeing/hearing.

The Horizon League has been put on notice. The Sleeping Giant just woke up.

Nagy seems like a good honorable man I believe he will represent WSU well in the community. Based on his record at SDSU he must be a hell of a good coach too!

He has a reputation as a very prickly interview for clueless newspaper and TV reporters. I'm looking forward to the first time someone asks a really dumb question.

"We want to recruit good offensive players and turn them loose,” he added. “It’s not run and gun. We take great care of the ball. We get good shots. But we want to get kids who can shoot and then we work on their defense. Early in the season I’m much more intense than I am late in the season. Once it gets late, they know what’s expected and they’re either going to do it or they’re not, so I tend to relax and let them play."
Please please please say Mortensen, Alstork and Benzinger are staying.

Alstork already used a year of eligibility when he transferred from Ball State, so if he left, he would only have 1 year of eligibility left. I doubt he leaves, but who knows about anybody else.

Is anyone transferring from SDSU to us? or any of Nagy's recruit following him to Wright State?

Alstork already used a year of eligibility when he transferred from Ball State, so if he left, he would only have 1 year of eligibility left. I doubt he leaves, but who knows about anybody else. He's definitely the safest bet to stay, but the memory of Walter Offutt still sticks in my mind. I understand he left under different circumstances and he's an anomaly, but you never know. I think that it's likely that some of the guys at the end of the bench move on to other schools. No reflection on their abilities or dedication but the style of play looks likely to change. as to Steven Davis, I don't think his body is made for D1 basketball. He's athletic and plays hard but his history of injuries makes it tough to look at him for the long haul. Rod Davis is a good student-athlete but the emphasis with him is on student. I don't know that he has the dedication to progress to the point where he can be more than a role player in case of injuries or foul problems. Of all the guys at the end of the bench Mortensen has the greatest upside. He's a really good shooter and is relatively quick for his size. If he can get comfortable with the US rules on fouls he can help us for the next three years. As it is, he fouls too much. Alstork, Hughes and Benzinger are going to be key for us next year.

Sounds like we have a coach that thinks a game in the high forties with defense grinding everything down to a slow malaise is history. Fans can come back now to watch an exciting game on the hardwood.

I can't find one bad comment about coach Nagy in 24 pages of a thread on the SDSU board. That tells me all I need to know about him. We got a good one.

I hope if anyone is going to leave that becomes known soon. We have the opportunity to possibly replace with some JUCO or a couple of transfer poissibilities with immediate eligibility to help inside. Would be nice if the 6'8" VC would come. Any others would sit out for a year before they could play unless a fifth year senior who graduates in the spring. The palyers will probably wait about any decision until they have a private talk with the coach. With all the changes there may be commits at other schools that may be looking for a better fit since the coach that recruited has left. I am encouraged that the program is going to be moving forward. It was my impression with BD we were plateaued. GO RAIDERS
