I don't have year's stats, but in 2017-18, A&M was #26 in the country in average home attendance at 3,960. They pulled in over 13,000 for the South Carolina game, whi h was the 10th biggest crowd in all of NCAA last year.
That's what we're walking into. Here's what we're facing based on my five minutes or so of research: Their top player, sophomore Chennedy (pronounced "Kennedy") Carter, is an absolutely INSANE, all-world athlete. When I say "all-world," I mean that literally. When she was in high school she made the FIBA U18 international first team. Here's just PART of the accolades on her official team profile:
-Named unanimous National Freshman of the Year, AP & WBCA All-American, SEC Freshman of the Year, First Team All-SEC, NCAA Spokane Regional All-Tournament, All-SEC Tournament, four-time SEC Freshman of the Week, espnW Player of the Week and USBWA Freshman of the Week. -Set the Texas A&M single-game record with 46 points at USC, in addition to posting the fourth (37 points against DePaul) and fifth (36 points against South Carolina) highest-scoring games in A&M history -Her 31.3 points per game in the NCAA Tournament are the fourth-most in tournament histoy
So, you know, not great for whoever draws her as a defensive assignment. HOWEVER, she did miss the entire SEC tournament due to two fractures in her shooting hand. She expects to be back for this one.
They also have other players, I presume.
