An 11-5 thumping ends the Raider run. Can’t be upset about being there and getting this far. However, the consensus was this was the group of death and the odds were stacked against us. It would have been great to be playing closer to home but it is what it is.
We took the second best team in the country to 13 innings and probably would have won without the errors earlier in the game.
Our starters kept us in both games which is all you can really ask. Our offense showed up enough to win both games, but our defense failed to make the flight to Cali. Errors, misplays, and poor throws really blew up in our face. Would have liked a better outcome obviously, but we’ve been there 3 years out of 4. Not many MM teams can say that.
But, just like basketball, we fell short once we got there. Both teams are on the rise, but can’t get the big post season win to give our program the spotlight we all feel it deserves.
Jeff Mercer clearly knows what he’s doing and the future is incredibly bright. Go Raiders!

Wright State's record is 39-17 and the RPI is still 69. Kent State is 39-18 and their RPI went down to 59.

As I watch the Oregon State vs Washington CWS game, I can't help but remember how good the ESPN crew was that did the WSU/Stanford game. Much better than the announcers tonight.

A few mentions of the announcers from the WSU-Stanford game but, not so much for the WSU-Baylor game. Guess they weren't quite as good the 2nd time. Makes me think of some of the famous announcers that seem so much better when your team plays better.

Washington just got knocked out of the CWS. This was their first appearance ever. Their RPI coming into the CWS was 63, pretty close to the Raiders 69. It just shows how close Wright State is to realistically being a CWS team. It is going to come.

It was Washington not Washington State. Their overall RPI was close to ours, but when you break it down it wasn't close at all. Their overall strength-of-schedule was 28. Add nearly 200 to that to get ours...#222. Their non-con sos was #45. Ours #122. They had 15 wins vs. G1 opponents. We played a total of 15 games vs G1 and G2 opponents combined. They were 26-21 vs. the top 3 groups (RPI 1-150.) We only played 17 games vs that same grouping, going 8-9. The vast majority of our wins (31) out of 39 came vs the bottom G4 (RPI 151-297).
It's really difficult to become a consistent top 75 or top 50 program when you play the overwhelming part of your schedule vs very sub-par programs.

Nope, I agree with Drop's post on June 1st about how good the announcers were and how they talked positively about Wright State.

I think we can get into the top 50 by playing the teams around us that are Group 2 and 3 teams, then play some Group 1 teams on our Spring trip. I also like the idea of reducing our HL schedule, because as you have said, they are just a massive drag on WSU's RPI.

Nope, I agree with Drop's post on June 1st about how good the announcers were and how they talked positively about Wright State. I agree they talked positively about Wright State, but they bickered back and forth and interrupted each other which took away from my focus on the game. I thought A Rod was announcing with how bad it was.

Oregon State beats Arkansas 5-0 in the final best of three series of the CWS. Attendance was up and it looks likes the highest ESPN ratings since 2009. College baseball is getting stronger and more popular with more teams investing in their programs. Wright State will need to keep working hard to stay ahead of the competition.

Raider Baseball produces, and loses, another top level head coach. IU gets a good one. Raider Up on the next man.
