you apparently didn’t see Detroit play last year. He wasn’t going to be successful there. He had no control over his players. They basically played street ball and did that very poorly. The big mistake Detroit made was they fired him without a plan to replace him. Their AD was delusional. He thought he was going to have his choice of candidates. Detroit is not a destination job. It’s not even one of the top 5 jobs in our conference and our conference is one of the worst in America right now.

Today IUPUI released their home non-con schedule for the 2018-19 season. Highlights of the upcoming schedule include: Eastern Illinois (RPI #262) Western Illinois (RPI #307) IU Kokomo (17-15 NAIA D II) IU Northwest (17-12 NAIA D II) Their full home non-conference slate consists of 6 games. m, it did not take long for uipui to adopt the lecrone system for building a sucky schedule that screws your fans. I just hope we have moved past it and will put together a quality and challenging schedule.
any word on whether we might fill either of the two empty scholarships caused by the two departures??

Unfortunately it’s a hire they should have made 2 months ago when he would have had a chance to recruit. Detroit had a shitty team last year and the little bit of talent they did have left. Their cupboard is bare and there isn’t much left out there to recruit. Detroit is speculating he is going to bring his son and a few of his recruits from Texas Southern with him. Even if that happens I still think they are going to go through a multi year rebuild. Long term is a good hire but in the short term Detroit is going to be one of many anchors in the HL.

UDM AWOL at NCAA meet-and-greet for Detroit Final Four pitch. NCAA officials were in Detroit this week for a tour of Ford Field and a star-studded soiree as the Detroit Sports Commission makes its push to host another men's basketball Final Four. Monday's visit by the NCAA was the first formal get-together between the NCAA, the commission and Michigan State, which would be the host university. Officials from Cobo and Olympia Entertainment also were present, as all Final Fours require secondary facilities for additional events throughout the weekend. Manuel, Michigan's athletic director, was in attendance on behalf of the Big Ten, which is interested in coming aboard as a co-host with Michigan State, Smith said. Officials from Western Michigan and Wayne State also were at the event. UDM has granted the release of Jack Ballantyne and Jermain Jackson, Jr. Jackson Jr was a starting freshman point guard last year averaging 10.5 pts, 2.6 assists, and 3.0 rebounds while playing 30 minutes/game.
