I started out on the Oakland game but this NKU game is very entertaining. Lots of offense and basically no defense. Detroit is giving the Norse all they can handle. Lots of energy from the visitors tonight, they’ve certainly been the aggressor all half.

YSU was down early but made a strong run on the back 9 to get back into it. Both teams look a little rushed and have several unforced TOs. YSU has had a barrage of whistles against them but have hung tough for 20 minutes; Oakland has shot 17 FTs.
At the half:
Oakland 34 YSU 30

The bracket holds true as seeds 1-4 advance to the semifinals. First time in three years that's happened.
NKU and Drew McDonald came back with a vengeance in the second half and pulled away from Detroit late.
Norse 99, Titans 88.
Antoine Davis dropped 30 for Detroit. Tyler Sharpe lead NKU with 25.

Kinda nice to see the top 4 teams actually be the final 4 teams in the tournament. Green Bay worries me a bit because of Cohen who I heard is potentially an NBA player. He could carry them to a win...but if the Raiders can slow him down I like their chances. If NKU gets to the finals vs. Wright State I think NKU is going to be really tough to beat as they will be hungry to avenge their loss to Wright State, and to avenge last year's poor showing in the Horizon League Tournament. Tate seems to be developing into a really good player for NKU.
For the Raiders...have to shoot the 3 decently the next few games. I think that is the key. Another 6-25 night like they've had recently and I think it'll be tough to win.
A few thoughts on the tournament setup...why are the semifinals on a Monday night?! Can they change the days next year for this tournament? Who cares if it's not on ESPN. Probably CBS Sports Network or even the Stadium Network could pick up the tournament at least so they could have the finals on a Saturday or Sunday.

People might complain that I'm pessimistic, but as Coach Nagy said not too long ago, "I view every opponent as a threat." The Raiders brought down a pounding on IUPUI the other night, but we all know that we don't often play like that and can go cold in a flash. Of these 4 teams I like our chances best against Green Bay. NKU would be a brutal opponent. They thought they were supposed to go to the NCAA last year and we took that from them, and now they want it back. Hope someone knocks them out in this next round but I'd be surprised.

One advantage to playing on Monday and Tuesday will be a higher level of referees available. Playing on nights where bigger games are scheduled definitely affects the pool of good refs. Tuesday night we had Bo Boroski who is a good ref despite the documented ethical lapse he suffered a few years ago.

I have no clue who's going to win these games. A Wright State Northern Kentucky final would be fun and probably good for the Horizon League. But a Wright State Oakland final would also be good since Oakland would be kind of playing close to home. Were any of our current players on the team that got whooped by Green Bay I the championship game a few years ago? Maybe that could provide some motivation to beat Green Bay
