Southpaw starter Sebastian Gongora with an absolute gem today. 8 innings pitched, 5 hits, 0 runs. He owes a big tip of the cap to Jay Luikart had an outstanding outfield assist early in the game which ended Oakland's first scoring threat.
Gongora wiggled out of a bases loaded jam in the 8th. Raiders called on lefty reliever Joey Valentine to button things up, but he couldn't hold the shutout. Raiders went to Garrett Simpson for the last out and the Raiders win game one 9-1.

Appreciate how you keep the board updated on the Raidergang....overall, how do you compare this squad to the ones of the last few years?

Appreciate how you keep the board updated on the Raidergang....overall, how do you compare this squad to the ones of the last few years? Our main issue is back end pitching, and has been for years. The rotational pieces are good and the offense has steadily improved as the season has gone on. We should win this league handily, though NKU is also putting up some impressive offensive numbers. We need our core players to stay healthy, and we need to see improvement from our bullpen. The offense keeping this train going will certainly take pressure off. The real big picture issue is that we're going to be susceptible to losses in games when the offense is cold, and we didn't do great in the early season non-conference tilts, so they all likely adds up to us hosting the league championship but still being a 4 seed in a regional. We really need better pitching and better OOC starts to really take the next major step for our program. That's really tough when we have to keep replacing coaches every few years.

The series sweep comes with some uncertainty moving forward..
Both Julian Greenwell and Gehrig Anglin exited the game with injuries. The severity of which is not yet known.
Raiders have a midweek tilt with Xavier before traveling to NKU for 3 this weekend. NKU has dropped their first two at by PFW this weekend, so a good weekend could put us in a really good spot standings-wise.

I think the 2021 team was the modern Gold Standard of Raider Baseball. That team had a Quad 1 RPI. With Xavier coming up, that will be a decent measure of this team and their ability to put it all together when needed. Wright State is now a Quad 2 team. I think it takes a few games to get the train running down the track. Opening up against tough southern teams exposes early weaknesses. Let's see how this team keeps rolling. Two games against XU nd UC, plus single games again OSU, U of L and UCF are the tough games still left to be played,
