Even though there’s quite a bit of competition in southwest Ohio and Ohio in general it could - IN THEORY now be possible for a star athlete to pay for all academic costs and therefore a roster spot via advertising and endorsements.
Tanner may be able to get some cash from a donor in exchange for all (or more likely some) enrollment money in order to play.
I’m sure a major conference school or mid major in a small market will be taking this approach sooner than later. BG seems to be looking at the new rules as a new opportunity. WSU could be among the first to try something like this.

I think we see some more roster turnover in the near future. Even though it is rumored we are getting Tanner back and we just added Bo to the roster, our staff is still reaching out to portal guys. As recently as this morning, Coach Trice was making contact with a 6-8 kid transferring from Tennessee. We cannot be trying to add all these guys unless we know some spots are going to be available or already are available.

The transfer portal window closed yesterday. Anyone that decides to transfer after that date needs to get a waiver from the NCAA. The exception to that is graduate transfers who do not need to enter the portal at all. How that comes into play at Wright State is that we should find out in the next few days if any of our underclassmen are transferring. If they had to enter their name in the portal by yesterday, that information finds it's way out to the general public within a few days. The situations we might not hear about for awhile, are our potential graduate transfers. Andrew Welage and Alex Huibregtse, for example, both red-shirted and could potentially graduate this year making them eligible as graduate transfers and don't have to enter the portal. I have no idea if either is on track to graduate now or would want to transfer. I'm just using them as an example of the rule.

This has already been addressed. TANNER NEEDS A WAIVER FROM THE NCAA BECAUSE THIS IS HIS SECOND TRANSFER AND THE NCAA MOVES AT THEIR OWN PACE. Wright State isn’t going to announce Tanner is a Raider until they know it is official. I know Wright State probably isn’t going to announce anything until they get the official waiver from the NCAA but for everyone still freaking out waiting for the announcement, Tanner is enrolled at Wright State already. He’s even listed in the university directory. |

Apologies for the double post but with Tanner and Myers joining this year I'd love to see a projected lineup/rotation/redshirt for this year from someone who knows more about the freshmen than I do.
Can't wait for October! I think this has the potential to be a truly special season.

Nice to finally see something official. Now we just have to wait to see if he is eligible this season. I'm not extremely optimistic with the transfer changes effective this season, but I sure hope he is, so we don't have to wait and he can close out his career with Trey.

Name the last player the NCAA has denied a transfer waiver to? I’m sure you can find one but considering around 2000 kid’s transferred last year and I cannot think of one that had to sit out, I’m not too worried. He isn’t going to have any trouble getting the waiver. It’s just a matter of when we get the official word. |

The NCAA has granted many waivers the past couple seasons, but that is meaningless since the NCAA introduced new guidelines for two-time transfers effective for 23-24. If strictly enforced, it will be much more difficult to get a waiver. |
