Bere is gone. Either to SIU with Nagy or to Michigan with Dusty May (Bere was a student manager at IU while May was in an administrative role with the Hoosiers). Trice is staying. Goff and Gibbs are the ones that have not been spoken for yet.

I'm cautiously optimistic for Coach Sargent. It's not ideal but after 8 years at WSU he's earned it. Generally WSU sports has had success hiring within and not fallen off a cliff. Thanks for Coach Nagy for his run and best of luck to Coach Sargent.

Looks like Alex is staying with his commitment to Wright State. Nice! Do we know who Clint recruited?

Nice! Do we know who Clint recruited? Alex Huibregtse, Keaton Norris, Solomon Callaghan, Brandon Noel, Logan Woods, and Alex Bruskotter were Sargent recruits. Drey Carter was either a Sargent or Trice recruit. I can’t remember for sure. Ayden Davis is a Trice recruit. Jaheem Webber is a Bere recruit.

If one of Davis or Webber stay committed, I’m just as excited for this season as I was before. If both stay, I’m pumped.

Was he a Sargent recruit?

This is a whirlwind time for mid/low major schools. WSU losing both its AD and men's basketball head coach simultaneously could have been brutal. All things considered I think hiring Sargeant makes sense. Like others have stated I hope that he differs philosophically from Nagy on redshirts and the portal but we will see.
Curious to see the fallout with the coaching staff, returning players and potential portal players. Clint has a lot of work to do so WSU can field a competitive team next season.

Congrats to Clint Sargent on becoming WSU's next head coach. I guess we don't know if it's interim for a year, or if he signed a longer contract?
Wow what a whirlwind! I was slightly surprised to see Nagy leaving, but shocked to see WSU pivot so quickly to hire Sargent.
I think I'm little concerned how Grant has seemed to retire pretty abruptly, where he's not even staying around to the end of the Baseball year which is Wright State's best program. You'd think he'd want to see that out, but maybe there's more to the story there.
I think for Nagy and SIU this move makes sense. I think Nagy needed a change of scenery since his Father passed, Wright State having had some tough years... it was time for him to move on. I didn't realize SIU hasn't been to the tourney since 2007. I always thought of them as a really good mid-major, but I must just be remembering those 2 or 3 good years they had back in the early 2000s! Kind of like Milwaukee, in the back of your mind you think of them as being a pretty good mid-major...but some of these programs have had 1 or 2 runs to the Sweet 16 and otherwise not really been that great as a program for a long time.
All that to say, Scott Nagy is an upgrade for SIU...it's a fresh start for him. Maybe it'll give him a new energy. I think he did seem to lose the passion with Wright State a bit, so sometimes for a lot of people a career change, moving to a new area helps with that.
I think Nagy was really good overall for Wright State.
I'm concerned a bit moving forward...I'm all for supporting Sargent, but you wonder with Grant gone, will the program kind of keep building itself or staying at at least a 20 win level most years? We shall see.

King, I think it's both Harder and Easier to turn around a program quicker, which could be good or bad news for Sargent. It's harder in that you could have a ton of your players transfer, and it's easier because you could also bring a ton of transfers and completely transform a team in an offseason. It seems YSU and CSU have stayed more competitive recently with a bunch of transfers.
At the end of the day, though it just depends who can do it better as far as the transfer portal goes. Not sure WSU is big on filling out a starting lineup with mostly transfers though.

It looks like Drey, Alex H, Woods, Norris, and Noel, all liked the post on Twitter. Webber seems like the only person who hasn't acknowledged it yet. Davis even created an account to like it.
