+1 I laughed SIU is going to struggle to fill out a roster though so he may actually get to play against Nagy's wishes. Not sure they can get enough portal guys in to field the 7 man rotation he'll use. He will get pulled after every mistake and Nagy will stomp his foot at him LOL! Nah, Nagy will refuse to call a timeout, so he can't pull him -- but he will yell at the closest assistant coach.

Jaheim just recommitted from Wright State, following Nagy to SIU Damn. Thought Bere staying on would help us hold onto him since he was the lead recruiter there. Pull to stay closer to home must have been stronger. Closer to home as in same state, yes. Closer....yeah, a whopping 45 miles. :-) 248 miles 293 miles

I was actually being kind of serious even though it came across as snarky. I guess there was some truth to it I'm not normally super excited for recruits (because so much can change) but I was legitimately thrilled to have Webber at WSU. In this portal era things can change so much year to year so being a "good loser" with recruiting could actually pay dividends down the road.

Brian Cooley would be the smart choice, I’m afraid WSU will go with the easy choice and promote Brown to AD and Sargent as the next basketball coach just because it will be easier and cheaper to stick with the status quo. I like Sargent but he isn’t a program builder. He does a good job recruiting but he likes to recruit a small group of players each year and does a good job landing a couple of them. He isn’t equipped to refill 1/2 to 3/4 of a roster the way he recruits. I would have liked Cole to be added in Tae Gibbs role. It would have been the next step up the coaching ladder, not a full blown assistant. Cole has absolutely no recruiting experience and more importantly no recruiting connections. Half the battle of recruiting is getting past the gate keepers, which are the high school and AAU coaches. If those guys like you, you have an in with their players. Cole currently brings nothing to the table from that regards. I think Cole will eventually be a good recruiter but it is going to take some time. I wrote the first quote before Clint was hired and the second after Cole was added as our last assistant coach able to recruit off campus. After losing Webber today it is pretty imperative that they both prove me wrong. We now have 5 open scholarships for next year and some glaring holes to fill. The only player Clint has offered a scholarship to since being named head coach decided to attend the worst program in the HL instead of coming to Wright State. Honestly, that was a straight kick to the balls for the program. The staff needs to step up their game big time and start making good additions to the roster for next year.

Well that certainly won't hurt recruiting kids from Alter (or ones currently in the portal from there)

Okay, help me out here. First, who is this guy (all is says is no stranger to the area)? Second, didn't WSU just put out a press release earlier this week announcing the completion of the coaching staff (when Cole G. was added)? So why another announcement now?

I think it mentioned that the staff will be completed with an additional assistant at a later date. This should complete the staff now.

I just read the article on the new Wisconsin PG recruit on the recruiting board and it really got me thinking about this staff. Outside of WSU sports, I follow a lot of other mid-major programs of interest. I am more than envious of how much recruiting information you can read about for other teams. Nagy and his staff was never very media friendly when it comes to recruiting. So far it looks like Clint is going to be very similar. I hope that changes. I know coaches aren’t allowed to talk about uncommitted recruits, but other programs have no trouble sharing information off the record to those recruiting sites. It would just be nice to know more about who we are recruiting, and who is visiting, etc. I think keeping our fan base in the dark is hurting our recruiting efforts. I’m sure it would make a better impression on potential recruits if we knew about them and our fans started following them on social media and gave them a little love. Just my 2 cents.

Behind a paywall. Can you summarize? Focus on player development (one of the best ever of taking unheralded recruits and building up their game), hate of NIL, the system setup to destroy the coach-team-player relationship... a lot of comments and references are very much in line with coach Nagy ...
