Based on Grant's comments in the paper yesterday I think he has already offered the job to someone and gave them the weekend to make up their mind. It doesn't make any sense to put interviews on hold and to skip the final four where he could meet with multiple coaches otherwise.

It could be an assistant still in the tournament or HC whose is just finishing maybe Friday. It gives them the opportunity to get back home and then tell the players and recruits.

I agree it does sound like Grant has offered the new coach. I wonder who his first choice is/was?

Nice link. Good to know this board is now considered a Wright State source for reporters and other boards. I wonder if we can convince the Herald-Leader that Coach Cal is in the running for the WSU job? ;-)

I think one of us is either a reporter for the DDN here on the board or they are copying and pasting in the paper from here.

More likely is the fact that the DDN won't actually put any effort into WSU reporting, and they get all their news from the same places we do.

Guys, that link isn't even from the DDN.

In some ways its refreshing that no one is leaking a bunch of information about the search - as long as the search lands a knockout candidate.

Well, if nothing else, the Donlon firing made the offseason exciting. I'm checking the board 3-4x per day. Hopefully Bob Grant can hit at least a double with this hiring. A home run would be nice, but I'd take anything that is an upgrade over Donlon. Because, Donlon didn't suck, he just wasn't the right guy for the job. We can do better and hopefully we'll know our new coach soon.

I like Dooley from Florida Gulf Coast probably the best, but there seems to be a good list of candidates to choose from (or at least offer the job to).
I'll go with Dooley.

Just speculation, Grant might get someone that is totally off the radar.

Dooley has a loaded team at FGSU next year with a good chance of making it to NCAA again. That gives him opportunity to get into a bigger program. He might want to stay there for a year. Even if he takes us to NCAA next year, his resume would be too good to pass on a power conference team.
I personally think we need a guy who can stay here for 4-5 and make us a consistent NCAA team. We can't build a good program if we don't have a long term coach.
With that said, I would still love either him or Nagy to be here.

Nagy then Dooley for me. Kelsey does have some strong points (being from SW Ohio does not hurt), but if Grant is looking to make a sure-fire upgrade hire over Donlon, then based on prior results its Nagy then Dooley. The thing with Nagy, is if Grant can land him, he may have the potential to stay here longer term than Dooley.
