Yea I'm also really hoping that coach Donlon's tweet message was implying that we are about to land another big man to go along with Stanton.
A JUCO big man would fit nicely into our Christmas stocking.
I know it has been mentioned somewhere else on the board but it would be huge if our coaching staff was able to fill all five scholarships this Fall so that they can concentrate 100% on the 2011 class. Remember, we have five scholarships to fill next year.
Wednesday can't get here fast enough!!!!

Well this absolutely made my day! Stanton is a huge get for the Raiders. He is a true PG.
I really like this recruiting class. This is a really strong class and Stanton was the missing piece.
I wonder what happens to the last scholarship?

Just some general observations.
- We need to bring Central State back for another exhibition because they bring a really nice crowd.
- Ronnie Thomas kinda surprised me with how mobile he appeared last night.
- Cooper Land still looks uncomfortable when he is down in the low post. I would still like to see him go up stronger to the basket when he is going for a stick back.
- Darrian is going to be a special player if he continues to develope.
- Koch has sweet/soft shot. He never forced anything last night.
- Todd, well that is what I expected from him and what we need from him this season if we hope to challenge Butler for the title.
- Their is something about Scott Grote that I like. He seems so smooth with the ball with a great finishing touch.
- Troy just flat out can shoot the rock..............now if he can play solid defense then he will be a serious contributor.
- Darkwa looked lost on defense and this will probably limit his minutes early on. If he is never able to pick up coach Brownell defensive schemes then he might go the way of Pressley.

It will be interesting to see who our starting guards will be Thursday. I was kinda leaning towards N'Gai and Troy.
One nice thing about Scott Grote is that he can literally play four spots on the floor so he is incredibly versatile and give coach Brownell some need flexibility.
Is it a given that Ronnie Thomas is our starting center? I wonder if maybe Cooper Land might get the starting nod?

At least 2,000 showed up for Halloween Hoops. Wow I knew it was a really good turnout but 2,000 for a inter squad scrimmage is much better then I anticipated. To me the biggest surprise of all was watching Paul Darkwa play. He plays with a high energy level plus I was amazed at his touch around the basket. It doesn't hurt that he is built like a tank! I can envision both Darkwa and Cooperwood on the floor at the same time. That is a whole lot of athleticism on the floor and they both play with a high energy level. I was also pleasantly surprised not only at Carthon's build but he seems to handle the ball with ease. Everyone in my section was drooling as Darrian dropped three after three in the hoop during the three point shooting contest. I was thrilled to see that Vaughn appears to be in mid season form already. I was worried about him knocking the rust off but he appears ready to play. Can't wait until the exhibition next week.

the availability of jdg as our point guard is the reason i believe that pg is a strength for the raiders, not a weakness. jd will be a solid offensive threat as well as getting the rest of the team involved in the offense. GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!! I agree 100% with you Keith. When Vaughn went down last year JDG became our go-to-guy PLUS he was are best defensive guard. By pairing JDG and Vaughn up in the same back court we now have two lock down defenders who both can score in double digits. The thing about JDG is that he seldom hurts his team with simple mistakes or lazy passes. He is just so fundamentally sounds. Having JDG back AND HEALTHY would be huge for this team.

I had to go with the 83 team. It was my freshman year and it totally hooked me on WSU hoops. I use to love going to the PE building for games. No doubt I also enjoyed the 93 & 07 teams as well. Rock, you might want to update your profile. You have your birthday listed as 06/29/1982. It is either wrong or you were the youngest freshman ever admitted to WSU. Hey, good catch Alumni. Who know why I put that date down but I can assure you that I was born in 1963 and graduated in 82. I went to Wright State's branch campus breifly before transfering to the main campus. I remember a group of guys that use to stand along the wall on the top row and would just yell nonstop the entire game. They use to drive the opposing team and coach crazy. One of my biggest heart breaks as a fan was losing to Cheney State ( I'm pretty sure ) in the DII semi finals. Andy ( Sky baby )Warner missed a wide open 15' that would have won the game for us.

We have friends that send their kids to coach Brownell's camp and they just loved it. They have been to multiple college camps over the years and they felt by far that the WSU coaches are much more involved then the other camps their children have attended.

Landing a 6-10 JUCO who can play with his back to the basket is on the top of my wish list......................or I'd take Marquis Mathis or better yet I'd take Bill Edwards Jr.

I really like the recruiting site and all the contributors to that portion. Obviously BigD is on top of alot of the recruits but I also appreciate the contributions from folks like nybuckeye, 03stick, baldraiderfan and nickskin.
BigD is probably the straw that stirs the drink on this site ( and I REALLY DO APPLAUD/APPRECIATE HIM FOR HIS TIME AND EFFORT ) but I just appreciated all the civil posters.
My rookie of the year is Wolf41 who just recently started posting here. I've always enjoyed his post.
Also, I am looking forward to seeing bballraider get back into the mix again.
I'll end with a THANK YOU to all the contributors to this site!!!

This would be a huge recruiting coupe for coach Brownell. Landing Bill Edwards Jr and Tyler Koch in the same class would have to rank this recruiting class as one of the best in WSU history.
Having a 6-7 230 lb forward who can handle the rock like a guard would be a handful for all the Horizon League teams.
I agree Irish that he would have a chance to start at forward opposite of Cory Cooperwood.
Funny comment on "Vernard Hollins" because whenever I see that he posted something I assume he has a dig about Wright State.

Everyone HAS to go to this link of Matt Howard. This picture show the "Butler Way" of how to set the ultimate "pick".

I'd like this team to get some extra games under its belt, and maybe play some BCS teams or some of the other good mid-major teams. I agree, playing in either the Insider.com or CBI would more then likely get us a game against a team with and RPI in the 75-115 range which I'd take in a heart beat plus it might be against a mid level BCS school which would make it all the better. Of course the cost will be the determining factor on whether or not we do but I think our RPI in the 90's gives us a legit chance to get into one of these two tournaments.
