Assuming everyone returns and the recruits we have coming in expectations should be high. I'm hoping the schedule will be commensurate with those high expectations.

two thoughts m. first I agree with you about next year. we should be deeper and better. also, unless I am missing someone Hughes is the only contributor who we lose after next year so the improvement should continue. when coach adds his fourth recruiting class to the mix we should be very interesting.
second, I get your point from an earlier post and if everyone was looking back 5 months we would be happy as a clam. but two things change that. one we have lost to some of the worst teams in the league and, second, the brass ring was right there to be taken and we have probably let it slip away. won’t know for sure till tonight but nku must have thought this was Christmas.

you are right, i did. i hope we will have a second post player who will give us some more offense. Parker has been mostly a defensive contributor.

Having talent on the bench can be a double edged sword. Most teams go eight deep. we would conceivably have the ability to go ten deep. This helps you in the event of foul trouble, matchups and injuries but can hurt you when players don't get the PT that they think they should have. But it is also a good problem to have!

I'd be surprised if we went more than 8 deep next year. We lose Benzinger and gain Red-shirts Manns and Wampler that will play. The way Nagy likes to red-shirt I wouldn't be surprised if the whole incoming freshmen class red-shirts next year.

I could see Nagy wanting to balance the classes out a little bit so maybe one of the freshman gets the green light. If Potter is as good of a shooter as they say, he may step into Benzinger's role as a true freshman.

We've heard Coach Nagy say on his weekly show more than once that he'd like to redshirt all freshmen but, OhioPirate is correct because a few less times he has stated that he likes balanced classes.
Really think there is no reason not to wait until closer to October before deciding on redshirting healthy players ready to go. This current rule of bringing them in during the Summer gives them plenty of time to figure those things out ( give players a chance to show where they are in the gym ).
If there is player development then it is also possible to see continued growth in returning players games.
Don't care who starts but, if it is important to them then I hope they are so good that the coaches can't ignore it.

We really need another big playing so that we don't have to "protect" Lou from getting fouls. I think Basile plays or if we have a ship available, maybe a shot-blocking JUCO?

Based on pictures and video on his thread in the recruiting forum, Basile doesn't have a D1 body yet. He plays like an absolute BEAST, but he would get destroyed without more muscle on his frame. Two years from now when he's a frosh and Lou's a Junior they'll run the league. I can see Davenport stepping into the rotation right away based solely on his athleticism, but that doesn't do anything for the post.

While not the same type of player as Lou, we will be adding Manns and Wampler to the rotation next year. Our bigs rotation now pretty much only consists of Parker, Lou, and Everett so we are already going to be adding 10 more fouls with those two bodies. If the Horizon League is going to be as weak as we predict next year, I'd love Basile's 4th year to be played as a redshirt senior instead of using him as a true freshman.

Thanks for posting the videos Big D. I am even more excited about the future of Raider basketball. We know Coach likes to redshirt freshmen. Anyone have any idea which ones might play next year and which ones will redshirt?
