5 things on Tennessee basketball opponent Wright State: ‘The moment won’t be too big for them’ www.seccountry.com/tennessee/tennessee-basketball-ncaa-tournament-wright-state-dallas-south-regional/amp...“Wright State is kind of a unique, throw-back team,” said Oakland coach Greg Kampe, whose Golden Grizzles lost to the Raiders twice this season. “They are an old-fashioned team in that they don’t have a lot of great athletes, but they are a really good team.” Kampe said Tennessee should be careful not to overlook Wright State. “They beat Georgia Tech at Georgia Tech — this will be a basketball game, I guarantee you that,” Kampe said. “They will play smart and hard, and their coach has been around and been to tournaments. “The moment won’t be too big for them.”

After reading their message board I'll resort to their vernacular. Them'all ain't too bright with college basketball. It's no wonder UT is a football school.
They're looking at our out of conference schedule and multiple hours in and dozens of comments nobody has figured out the difference between the University of Miami and Miami University. Sad. Ironically, in that debate they're giving us more credit for our close road loss than we deserve.

Wright State and Tennessee had one common opponent this year. Georgia Tech. Both games were at G-Tech. Tennessee won their game, 77-70. Wright State won, 85-81.

I've been dishing out some education on Twitter to some very brash and uneducated fans. One said the only reason we won our league is because of Oakland's injuries.
Raiders will be ready to play. UT has a lot of athletes that will be problematic, not to mention the SEC POY in Williams down low. If Love gets in early foul trouble, it will be a long year.
I've seen UT play half a dozen times this season, as my wife is a big SEC fan, but the team can be beat. The problem is they have so many avenues for points which can certainly be trouble for our short bench.
Win or lose, we've came a lot further than we expected. Our team has increased our visibility in the national media, and people are learning about our school and our program.
The deck is always stacked against MM programs in the big dance, but it's happened before. Think of what could happen if we pull this off.
I think this game will be tighter than most experts think, I hope we are in it at the end and have a chance to shock the world. That's all we can hope for.

I am keeping my expectations low and I am expecting that we will get creamed. However, win or lose, this season has been a lot of fun and has obviously already been a huge success in my book.

At the beginning of the season I thought we had a shot to win the HL bc it looked like it was going to be a down year, but I figured we were a year away from being pretty good. Our Super Bowl was just getting here. Being competitive and looking good on the big stage would be the icing on the cake.

It's much worse with football, however. I'll be the only one rocking green and gold in this sea of orange. They get so rowled up if you say or do anything that goes against their Vols. Should be a fun week.

Watching the Kentucky game the Vols major threat is the Admiral Shofield shooting his 3 pointers. They have a another guy that is pretty stout down low that can make short range jumpers. Hopefully Hughes can slow the Admiral down and bust him down to Petty Showfield.
If we can stop there 3 point shooters we will do well if we hit ours. They can shoot beyond NBA range so we will have to guard them well. A lot of people forget the height of our guards other than Gentry. We have length on the wings that get into the passing lanes. We have freshman but they are battle tested.

Why did UT choose orange for there team color? It was so there fans could ware it to the football game on Saturday, hunting on Sunday and picking up trash on the highway the other five days of the week.

We have freshman but they are battle tested. The UK game was an anomaly. Schofield doesn't even average 2 made 3s a game. They have 7 players playing 20+ ppm but it all revolves around SEC POY Grant Williams at 15ppg, 6rpg. Like the Raiders, their scoring can literally come from anyone. Like I said earlier, if we can't contain Williams, or Love gets in foul trouble, it's going to be a long night. I don't see Parker being able to contain Williams, but he can probably draw a few charges. Raiders are going to have to play one of their best games of the season, and UT will have to play one of their worst for the upset to happen. I give it about a 10% chance.

We post as homers all year long and then the NCAA tournament comes along and we aren't? I think this is the best time of the year to be a homer and root for our Raiders.
