After a dreadful 0-9 start, which included road losses to Purdue, Xavier, Michigan, Michigan State, and Oklahoma State, the Grizzlies won back to back games at Calihan Hall over the weekend, but by only a combined 5 points, and one of them in OT.
The Griz fell in love with the 3 ball over the weekend, jacking 60 3s in the two games. The Griz are excited to finally play on their (hideous) home court, after the league forced them on the road this weekend after their initial series against NKU was postponed due to the Norse Covid-related pause. Not known for it's capacity, but the O'rena has proven a tough place to play over the years. Luckily there will be no fans present, so the usual raucous students won't factor in.
Hopefully our success will follow us up 75. This is a trip I normally like to make from my home in West Michigan, but obviously not in the cards this time around.
Strange to say it, but Cleveland State is hot on our heels atop the league standings, and they welcome IUPUI at the Wolstein this weekend, so anything less than a series sweep will be a disappointment.

Did anyone get special glasses for Christmas that can filter out their nauseating blacktop court? Watching back-to-back games will give me eye-strain. I hope Raiders can overcome this look and continue their winning streak.

I would agree if Chris Collins was doing all of our games solo. He's the cream of the crop for a play by play guy. No one comes close to his skills that I have heard from other announcers around the league or other leagues for that matter. I know Jim Brown is a revered figure in Raiderland, I get that, but he suffers from Diarrhea of the mouth on the broadcast. I really wish Chris was doing the games solo.

Unfortunately, Jim Brown is a Raider legend so he is grandfathered in until he wants to stop calling them. Hope he doesnt read this forum daily. Lol

I would agree if Chris Collins was doing all of our games solo. He's the cream of the crop for a play by play guy. No one comes close to his skills that I have heard from other announcers around the league or other leagues for that matter. I know Jim Brown is a revered figure in Raiderland, I get that, but he suffers from Diarrhea of the mouth on the broadcast. I really wish Chris was doing the games solo. I mostly agree. I like Coach Brown...good guy...decent color guy...but he needs "coached up" to stop talking about the last shot once the ball hits mid-court going the other way. He sometimes talks through an entire possession and CC can't get in a word of play-by-play on a possession. They should just cut the mike at mid-court. |
