Interesting night of basketball to say the least. Milwaukee really gave CSU fits which surprised me. They played scrappy and looked like the team that wanted it more down the stretch. With the game coming down to the wire, I thought the wildly inconsistent officiating by 3 faces I've grown to hate missed a very easy technical call on Tre Gomillion when he hung from the rim, chinned up, and did a full 270 like he was Spider Man while no Panther defenders were under the basket. That play capped off the Vikings come back, which I'll admit, I was originally against, but I think CSU is our only chance for a half decent seed, so maybe it is for the better.
In the night cap, I was really surprised how flat NKU played. Oakland was far and away the better team. I'll eat a bit of crow on this one as I called them overseeded in this thread for weeks. Somehow Kampe got his guys rolling the right direction and led comfortably the entire game.
I was surprised that 5 of the 6 officials last night were HL scum. The Big 10 tournament starts tomorrow in Indy and I thought we might borrow a few of those more established guys, especially for the first game, but the HL never lets me down. Turned on the SoCon championship and saw 3 SEC officials, and realized that the HL has sunk so far down the desirability hierarchy that we're the last kid left on the playground when it comes to getting decent officials.

Who are you all rooting for tonight? I'm all in on Oakland. Same. I don’t think either has a chance at winning in The Dance as a 15/16 (hope I’m wrong). As a neutral party, why not root for the underdog?

Lunardi has CSU as a 15 seed matched up vs Iowa. He usually has the seeds correct, but not necessarily the match ups. The other 2 seeds are Ohio State (over seeded in my opinion), Alabama, & Houston. CSU is a scrappy team, and they are playing with a ton of confidence right now. I think it would be good for the conference both financially and respect wise if they could pull off an upset. I'm pulling for CSU tonight and I think they will take care of business and advance to the Big Dance.

I’m happy with either outcome tonight. I’m just happy I don’t have to pick between UIC and NKU like last year.

Agree on all fronts. Neither team will win against a 1 or 2 seed as neither of them have any size at the 4 or 5. I'm pulling for Oakland as well. I know Kampe gets a bad rap, but I like the guy. He's a straight shooter and I can respect that. We don't need CSU getting a big head just because they have a home run coach who is doing great things in rescuing the program from the basement of the league that Gary Waters left it in.

Kampe’s also the third longest tenured coach in the NCAA. He took the team up from D2. I respect the hell out of him. I hope his guys pull a couple more shockers this season and that we destroy them in perpetuity thereafter.

CSU fan here.No one us getting a " Big head" as you put it,we are just enjoying this moment just like many have you have enjoyed the successful milestones of your program. I feel SOME you are really petty

Oakland is a tough team with a tough coach, that point guard they have is outstanding. Plus Rashad Williams still has a bug up his butt after CSU AD tried to block his transfer, he always plays well against CSU. Hope my Vikings are ready. And thank you btw.

I'm pulling for CSU. They were the best team in the league all year and deserve a chance in the NCAA.
I will say though it's a little embarrassing if CSU is the rep. considering Ohio U. went on a 40-0 run against CSU back in December. Not sure many teams have ever won a NCAA game who at one point during the year let up a 40-0 run! But it's how you finish so I'm slightly joking. Great year for CSU.
On another front...Keith, I don't think this is a huge missed opportunity for WSU. A missed opportunity, but this is another strange year, and I almost think like in MLB, it's kind of like an asterisck year. Things are just weird with Covid and the tourney being in Indiana. I don't think it'll feel the same, the same excitement, as previous years until things get a little more back to normal with regular fans in the stands.

To be fair to Gary Waters, he lost 3 major transfers late in his tenure (Louisville, MSU, Wichita State) that decimated the roster for his final two seasons when otherwise they were a legit NCAA threat. It was Dennis Felton who killed the program. I don’t think any CSU fans are getting big heads. We’re already worried about losing Gates and we know it’s not a guarantee that the next coach will be successful.

Congrats to CSU. They did what they had to do this year to get to the dance. As disappointing as it is as a Raider fan, especially with the way we went out, I would love to see them represent the Horizon well. It will not be easy as a probable 15 seed, but this is not your average season. Our league needs some positive press so I’ll be rooting for them.
