With the NIT being limited to16 teams this year, does this mean Wright State is out? Not listed in this bracket....https://www.dratings.com/predictor/bracketology/ Opti Wright State is done for the year

Anyone that thinks Cleveland State isn't going to join the list of recent HL one and done 15/16 seeds is lying to themselves. The only real suspense left for the HL the rest of this year is waiting to see where CSU's coach ends up.

Congrats to CSU.
Seems like they were winning all year with smoke and mirrors, but they just continued to win. Here's hoping that continues on into the tournament.

Congrats to CSU. They did what they had to do this year to get to the dance. As disappointing as it is as a Raider fan, especially with the way we went out, I would love to see them represent the Horizon well. It will not be easy as a probable 15 seed, but this is not your average season. Our league needs some positive press so I’ll be rooting for them. Agree. Coach Gates appears to be all class, especially after how he showed appreciation to Coach Nagy last year after a loss. Just Glad it's not Kampe. Obviously still want it to be WSU but hats off to Gates basically pulling a Brownell...

I would question this comment about the class that Cleveland State as a team showed in the game that they won at our house. The players were on their feet the entire game and exhibiting zero sportsmanship during the game in the trash that they were screaming. There were rules in place to limit this stuff and the refs chose not to enforce them. I watched many of their games on TV and saw them doing the same stuff in other games. They had a good season but they lost me as ANY sort of supporter,

They had a good season but they lost me as ANY sort of supporter, The normal rules are for benches (ie the actual bench area) to remain seated. Without an actual bench area this year, those rules were relaxed. And without fans the bench cheered more than normal (bench cheering isn’t unusual - obviously not to the level of CSU’s bench this year but the normal chatter and cheering just gets drowned out by the crowd). CSU’s bench players, like everyone else’s, stood/sat behind the coaches “bench” and cheered on their teammates. They weren’t breaking any rules and refs weren’t looking the other way. You know what’s funny? They acted this way last year too, just from a seated position and you couldn’t hear them. They have “bench captains” who are in charge of keeping the energy/morale up on the sideline. Gates stopped WSU from walking off the floor after a game last year so he could publicly present Nagy with a game ball after losing to him. He literally coaches with his hands behind his back and doesn’t get animated, stomp or antagonize the refs. CSU’s players never argue with the refs, they shake hands and help up opposing players, and they’re good kids who do well in the classroom. Yet to you the program is classless because they cheer too loudly for their teammates?

For all you Wright State fans who congratulated us sincerely with out taking shots, thank you so much we will do the same when you guys make the Tournament, and that will be very soon. For those of you taking cheap shots at the Vikings out of envy. Grow up please. Wright State is my 2nd favorite program next my vikes but SOME on this board are petty. Hope both programs make next year.

Congrats to CSU. I am certainly envious as I wish my alma mater was dancing.
I will be shocked if Gates comes back next year as I feel like the offers will be too good for him to decline. I hope for his and CSU's sake that he defeats a 15 seed on his way out.
Gates was by far the coach of the year in the Horizon League. What an impressive season.

Hope both programs make next year. Disagree with this wholeheartedly. At first, I was impressed with the encouragement and support the Vikings bench showed all season. It was clearly a motivating factor to players on the floor, and I'm sure it helped them in close ballgames. You can sit here and say Gates is a class act blah blah blah. The bottom line is that CSU players were audibly counting down the shot clock ahead of where it actually was as well as counting down the inbounds timer in intervals faster than an actual second in their game against IPFW on 2/20. That is CLASSLESS basketball, and Dennis Gates did NOTHING to stop it. That's absolute trash for a team to be doing that and goes against the standards of good sportsmanship. It speaks volumes of the team, and volumes of the coaching staff, and is the sole reason I rooted against CSU in the tournament. That's not how you represent this league, and I hope to God they don't think that's a good idea to do against a powerhouse team that is absolutely going to throttle you because you don't have an inside game or defend well. You won. We get it. Take your celebratory comments to your own board and stop trolling this board.

You have people from this board who post on our board regularly, btw. I’ve posted over here a few times with no problems. And most fans have been very classy - a true thanks to all of you who have been welcoming. I attended a game at Wright State in 2008, which was a huge game for CSU as Gary Waters was just starting to make the Vikings competitive again and we were off to an undefeated start in conference play (in what ended up as an NIT season). I was cheering loudly for my team. Not one word directed at WSU players, fans or even the refs. Late in the game, after a big shot from CSU that turned out to be the game winner, an old Wright State fan turned around and told me to shut up and said I was cheering too loudly. I was shocked and didn’t say anything, just shrugged (thinking “aren’t we at a basketball game?”). Other WSU fans in the area apologized and congratulated us on the victory. I just now made the connection that the old fan must have been you.

Oh, geez, Jerry. I have had conversations with fans like you for 2+ decades. Fans of low expectation. So you do not think we blew an outstanding opportunity to “go where no raiders gave gone before” to almost quote Star Trek. Well here is what I know. We were heavy heavy favorites to win the hl and be the hl rep in the dance. Everybody seemed to feel we had the best players and we have a great coach. Now if you want to argue we were way way overrated I could certainly entertain that idea given how we finished up. But let’s go with the idea we were the best team talent wise in the league.
So then we turn around and lose five games to five teams whose best net rating is 165. That is right, 165. Right on the border of being in the bottom half of all ncaa div i teams. And that is the highest rated league team we lost to. The other losses were to teams mostly in the bottom third of div i, down to a net of 265 I think. These are truly bad teams that we lost to during this season. Good teams do not lose to teams like these on a regular basis but we did.
So here is what I think. If we had taken care of business against these really crappy teams and won the post season tourney, we probably would have been looking at a 12 seed. A 12 seed!!! Do you know when we got our last 12 seed Jerry??? Let me check the records. Hmm we have never gotten a 12 seed in division I. Never. That would have been historic. And I believe the 5/12 matchup is the most common upset in the dance. I looked at lunardi’s picks for 5 seed. Unlike when we were 14-16 seeds we would not be facing the elites of division i hoops so winning that game would have been doable.
If we win that game we would have been playing for a spot in the sweet 16. Do you remember , Jerry, our last chance to play for a sweet 16 spot. Oh wait we never have. And we still won’t because we let a huge opportunity get by us no matter what fans like you think. Who knows, we have gone 30+ years without winning an ncaa tournament game, maybe we will have to wait another 30 years.
Now I must confess I am truly pissed off by our failure to deliver this season. Nice to see the ladies know how to close out the season right. But I also am really annoyed that our league will be represented by a team with a 165 net and a 50 pt loss to a middle of the pack Mac team.
