With a 20-game conference schedule and an MTE, if the above games are correct (and not delayed/cancelled), that would only leave 1 or 2 more games that could be added. Will the Raiders take a buy game? Will there be a non-D1 opponent? It seems critical that the Raiders get into a good MTE to have a tougher schedule than the past 2 seasons. Looking ahead, I hope the Horizon League never goes to 22 games and that the Horizon-Summit Showdown gets nixed or changed to be 1 game per season. It really limits what each program can do with their schedule. Regardless, it looks like this upcoming season will be more normal. It will be nice to see the Raiders play in person again.

I hate an unbalanced schedule, but this is stupid.

Man that's a lot of league games. They should really shorten the HL Tournament if they are going to do this. Just invite the top 4. Silly to play that many and then give everyone an equal shot to to advance to NCAA tournament.

Share the same sentiments as everyone else. If the league isn't going to split into two divisions, then everyone needs to play everyone twice. As we saw last season, certain teams were able to skip out on playing other teams in their gym, and we even had teams who didn't meet up all year due. I think it makes a lot of sense to flip into a two-division E/W format to save on travel costs, allow an expanded OOC schedule, and not be over-bearing. Play your 5 division teams twice, play the other 6 once each, 3 at home, 3 on the road, and let that rotate ever year. 16 game conference season, top 10 make the playoffs, double byes for the 1 and 2. Highest seeds host, no more Garfield court. There, I'm better than LeCrone!

This scheduling model just means that no one in the HL cares at all anymore. No one wants to try to put together an at large type OOC schedule or they don't think it is even possible anymore with how far the HL has fallen. This scheduling model is all about making it easier to schedule games and has nothing to do with putting together a good schedule.

I saw a response to that tweet from someone credible (I forget who now) that basically called BS. Said ask the other 99% of the mid-major ADs that same question and they would gladly line up to take the $90k guarantee money right now. Which makes a lot of sense - its not hard to get game tape and evaluate players - you're not going to stop a good player from getting poached because you didn't play a team.

D1 Docket's schedule spreadsheet went live today and it lists Wright State as participating in the Naples Invitational along with Ball State, George Washington, and Middle Tennessee State. source: t.co/KXkHX5i5Ku?amp=1That's not a terrible field, but I was really hoping for a chance at a bigger name opponent. The Raiders would be the only team in the field with a winning record last season.

Here is the scheduling rules from the NCAA manual: 17.4.5.1 Maximum Limitations -- Institutional -- Men's Basketball. In men's basketball, an institution shall limit its total regular-season playing schedule with outside competition during the playing season to one of the following (except for those contests excluded under Bylaw 17.4.5.5):
(a) 28 contests (games or scrimmages) and one qualifying regular-season multiple-team event (see Bylaw 17.4.5.2.1) that does not exceed three contests per team;
(b) 29 contests (games or scrimmages) and one qualifying regular-season multiple-team event (see Bylaw 17.4.5.2.1) that does not exceed two contests per team; or
(c) 29 contests (games or scrimmages) during a playing season in which the institution does not participate in a qualifying regular-season multiple-team event.www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/D121.pdf

If we are playing in this tournament and all the above games we think we have scheduled, how many more games do we have left? Based on the rules I just posted, I think our schedule is complete if the list refrigeratorraider posted above is accurate. We would fall under section B of the scheduling rules playing in a MTE against 2 teams. That would allow us to schedule 29 other games. We have 22 HL games this year which leaves 7 other OOC games we could schedule. If we have 2 SL showdown games, 2 home games (Tennessee Tech, Bowling Green) and 3 away games (Miami, Marshall, Western Kentucky), we are at our limit.

I know we are still trying to schedule a least 1 buy game (where we are being bought) so at least one of the games refrigeratorraider listed has been cancelled or delayed to a future year. I haven't heard anything about the HL/SL challenge since it was announced a couple of years ago. I don't know if it is still going to happen since the HL expanded and we are playing a 22 game conference schedule.

That's good to know a buy game is being sought. The Horizon has expanded since the HL/SL challenge was announced. I'm not sure how it would work. Hopefully it's just canceled.

Personally, I hope it is cancelled. I'd rather have our coaches be the ones to decide who we want to schedule with those 2 games each year. That being said, I honestly don't know if we are playing it this year or not. Western Kentucky might have delayed our series again. We might be taking a year break from the Miami/WSU series. I really don't know. I have heard from a few fans with better access to our athletic department than myself that we are trying to finalize a buy game vs a P5 team for next year. If you go back and read last year's scheduling thread you will see that we came close to scheduling a few of those types of games then too so I'm taking the news with a grain of salt but hoping for the best.
