First of all, if you are the real Vernard Hollins, you are one of my all time favorite players at WSU. But to your comment, which I understand is in jest, losing 4 talented players in the last 2 years is dismaying to me. I don't include Theilmann because I think the staff saw him in practice and determined he wasn't worthy of a slot on the team. I love this program and want it taken to a level where winning games in the NCAA Tournament is a reality. So when you have a constant turnover on your roster, it makes it difficult to get to that level. The mid-majors that make runs in the Tournament are teams with upper class men who have played together for 3 or 4 years. I seriously thought last years team was on the cusp of doing that, but then Winchester and Davenport left, Hall got injured, and it took until the middle of this season for the team to gel and go on a winning streak. And now the same thing is happening again. Next years rotation as it stands right now will only have 5 players with any D1 playing experience, so once again, it will take some time to work the newcomers into the rotation. I'm just disappointed in the setback. I guess if I just lower my expectations, then I wouldn't be so disappointed. I don't think anyone is happy that we lost those players last year or this year. We would have been a better team this year and next with those players. Unfortunately this is just part of college athletics today and we have to move forward. I am not going to panic yet and start thinking that next year cannot be a championship season. We expected Smith to be in our main rotation next year. Noah was most likely going to red-shirt and wouldn't have helped us next season. We have a long ways to go before next season and we have 3 scholarships open right now. I personally hope we add 2 grad transfers/JUCOs that can play right away and a traditional transfer that has to sit out that can help balance out our classes a little bit. Nagy doesn't traditionally recruit JUCOs. Assistant coach Sharif Chambliss has had some good success recruiting JUCOs when he was an assistant at Milwaukee. I hope he can convince Nagy to take a chance on at least one. We could really benefit from adding a good PF and SG with some experience to this team.

I read the DDN article by Doug Harris. I agree that our top 5 players are really good, and expectations for all of them are high. I get that. And I think Basile is going to be really good. He looks like he's every bit of 6'10" now and has definitely packed on some muscle. Once you get past these 6, it will be interesting to see who steps up and can compete this upcoming season. And I'll cross my fingers and hope that Nagy and staff can pull a rabbit or 2 out of the hat and bring in some talented guys who can contribute right away. And someone needs to tell Doug Harris that Freidel has de-committed. Go Raiders!

Mid Majors are like a farm system for the P5 schools.

It's so depressing that you're right... especially with the graduate transfer thing. It's brutal.

I really hope Smith reconsiders transferring. I don't know why he would want to leave a 20+ win team that just went to back to back post season tournaments for a team that went 12-20 last year.

He is headed to Chattanooga First Winchester, then Malachi. Both make absolutely ZERO sense. Hope the best for them, but damn that is just so stupid on so many levels

Hope the best for them, but damn that is just so stupid on so many levels In both of their cases I think either friends or family got into their heads and helped convince them that they were much better than what they really are. I think both decided to transfer expecting to be picked up by a power 5 school only to be hit by reality with where they ended up.

Wait, did Dozic commit? Recruiting thread for him has changed from Wright State Offer to Wright State. I must have missed something, would be great news though
