I've got a better hashtag for the the MBB Tourney. How about #LostHorizon? The location of the tourney, Indiana Farmers Coliseum, is a joke. They should return to the old format of starting out at the regular season champs home court. I like it. I'd also go with #RinkyDinkHL

horizonleague.org/documents/2019/7/9//2020_Men_s_Basketball_Bracket.pdf?id=4485 Top 2 teams get a double bye. Teams 3-10 need two wins to get to Indy. I also like the fact that the teams will re-seed after each round, so that lowest remaining seed always plays the highest remaining seed. And the campus site games will be at the higher seeded teams court. This bracket at least makes the regular season worth something.

The only bummer is that we probably won’t get a home game in the tournament. I’m assuming we finish top 2 in the conference

Now that we've ironed out the number one seed, I think there are a lot of very interesting stories to play out.
Obviously it's easy to look ahead to a third matchup with NKU, but there's a lot of basketball to be played.
In an interesting parody, two teams were able to knock both NKU and WSU off this season; Green Bay and UIC. I think Youngstown will also have a thing or two to say about who earns the automatic bid as well, knocking us off and coming one basket shy against NKU last weekend.
These are all teams that possess the formulas to winning that both the Raiders and Norse have been susceptible to. Athletic guards, solid defenses, and natural scorers.
I think the one I want to see least is YSU, and unfortunately, they are positioned lowest in the standings. Raiders get the benefit of playing the lowest remaining seed in the semis, so if YSU were to upset a GB or UIC, we'd almost assuredly be playing them in the semis.
Having said that, NKU is liable to lose any night they have a poor night shooting the 3 ball, just like they did tonight. You certainly don't expect that from them very often, and it will be a tall order for someone to go toe to toe with them in an offensive power match. Green Bay is probably the best case scenario to play run and gun with them, so that might be a matchup to look forward to.
I also don't think you can count Oakland out just yet. They are playing substantially better ball with the transfer kid Williams now up to speed.
I think you can rule out the rest of the league challenging the top two teams. CSU doesn't have multiple ways to score and doesn't defend reliably yet, Milwaukee doesn't have much outside of Lucas, IUPUI doesn't have much of anything at all, and Detroit won't be there.

First time poster here, but I’ve been following the page for a while now. In my opinion the scariest team is Green Bay because they’re the fifth rated scoring offense in the nation and like to play at our pace. I think we match up well against NKU and Oakland. With that being said, I wouldn’t like to see UIC either but I’d be okay with NKU or Oakland in the championship. Green Bay worries me too the most for the same reasons cited. God knows they don't play defense, but it's their pace and how they score in bunches that worry me.

I haven't been to the IUPUI field house. Is it really as "bad" as the comments I'm reading on here?

When we went last month, it took us forever to find our way to the building, then we couldn't figure out where to park once we got there. It didn't help that it was rainy and miserable that night. I hope they have some decent signage in place for the tournament.
The arena itself is small, but the seats were comfortable. It definitely doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Little Caesar's Arena has.

Since Detroit is not in the tournament, does the #3 seed get a bye in the first round?

That is my understanding.

That is my understanding. This is correct. They get a single round bye and will host the lowest remaining seed on Thursday. Green Bay locks up the 3 seed with a win today over CSU via their first tiebreaker being Milwaukee. However, a GB loss and a UIC win would give the Flames the 3 seed.

I haven't been to the IUPUI field house. Is it really as "bad" as the comments I'm reading on here? The interior is updated, original exterior architecture. For the regular season game there was minimal staffing and the parking situation was unclear with no signage or parking attendants. I’m sure this will be different for the HL tournament. (Hope they can handle that much). They had a big bar area on one side of the court which opened up to the arena, which was pretty nice. Still BS that it’s at a League institution’s home gym, but hey, it’s closer than Detroit. Also unfortunate that the neutral games are on weeknights, as I think the number of traveling fans will be much lower. I understand this has everything to do with television coverage and getting maximum exposure, but it sucks for us.
