Now that the entire college basketball season has been scuttled, I guess its time to discuss and speculate about next years team. I think its obvious that both Love and Holden will be starters along with Hall. I think Finke will be a major contributor and most likely be a starter, and by default Calvin will be our starting PG unless he gets beat out by a freshman or some grad transfer comes in to help solidify that position. The remaining roster will be made up of RS Freshman Andre Harris, Basile, Manns, and incoming freshmen Welage, Huibregtse, and Noel. What impact any one of the newcomers will have is anyone's guess at this point. Based on this years action, I think Basile will see some major minutes and hopefully Manns will be a bigger contributor as well. He certainly brings some instant offense off the bench when given that chance. The staff has 2 scholarships to give assuming no one else tranfers out, which based on the last several years seems somewhat likely. I hope Potter is our only defector but we'll just have to wait and see. Personally, I think the staff will be scouring the transfer portal to see who's available. Last year there were over 800 D1 players who transferred, and I see no reason why that won't be the same or more this year. Below is a link to Verbal Commits transfer list if you want up to date info on this. www.verbalcommits.com/transfers/2020

Thanks for starting this thread.
I see the key to next year's team being Finke. He needs to be able to at least come close to matching the production that Wampler provided. I think Calvin will be great with an offseason to get stronger. I also think Hall will be better after more time coming off his injury.
I am very intrigued by Harris, as he seemed physically ready this year. Hopefully the redshirt season is what he needed to be ready to contribute.
Holden could be in for a big season if he continues to improve, and work on his outside shot a bit. He hit a good percentage, but didn't take many. His physicality and feel for the game were great as a freshman.
I would really like to get another PG with one of the remaining scholarships. Someone in the same mold as Jordan Ash who can provide tough defense, and give Trey a rest.
I am not sure if any of the incoming freshman will have much of a shot to crack the rotation seeing as Calvin, Hall, Finke, Holden, Love, Basile, and Manns are sure bets to take up most of the minutes.
We should be in for another big year!

It will be interesting to see if the NCAA decides to grant an extra year to all seniors and if our current seniors would even want to come back or just start their professional careers. I'm all for another year of Cole and Bill in the green and gold.

I think we easily can sink a scholarship into a high talent transfer and can afford to have them sit out a year - hoping that's the route we take. Nagy talked about playing Basile along with Love a lot more next year - possibly even utilizing a zone defense when he does. I could see Basile possibly cracking the starting lineup if so.

If what I have heard is correct, we already have a grad transfer lined up for next year. He is a SG/SF that has 2 years of eligibility left. I think it's a very safe bet our last scholarship is going to a PG. I cannot see any way we are going into next season with only 1 true PG on the roster. I hope that PG is also a grad transfer that can step in and play. My guess is that most if not all of our true freshmen red-shirt.

Spring athletes are going to be granted another year of eligibility due to the Corona outbreak leading to a shortened/cancelled season. Winter sports are supposedly still "up for discussion".

Could this be Jonah Antonio from UNLV? Nagy tried to get him a few years ago and he is in the transfer portal and listed as a RS Jr with immediate eligibility.

I honestly don't know who the player is. I've just been told he is a SG/SF who sat out this season and will graduate early from his current university allowing him to have 2 years of eligibility left. The only other tidbit I know is that he is from Ohio.

We are in good shape next year and into the future. Our freshman class this past season was solid and got a lot of floor time and experience. We add Finky to this group next year. If coach can keep this group together and health we will be good for the next few years. We only have three upperclassmen right now and I like what we have coming in. The future is bright

Love Basile Holden Finke Calvin
Is that the starting lineup? I don't have any idea on Finke's athleticism, but I think Holden can effectively guard from 1-3.5 I'd like to see him NOT bank with 4444 as much as he did last year. I remain stymied as to Manns. If he could contribute as a 4 defensively and be that instant offense guy...man...what a lift that would be.
We need another PG for sure...hope the above poster is correct about the IN kid. If Manns can't be counted on as another 'big' we will need another guy at that spot right away if Basile is going to play alongside Love with any regularity...or Holden is going to go back to defending much bigger guys with regularity. He can certainly do it, I just don't like it. Harris looks like he has D1 guard size...appears no smaller than Ash.
The competition for playing time will be fierce at the 2 & 3...opportunities abound at backup PG and PF.
